The most common mistake that many home masters make: when choosing a tile, they pay attention to the slightest of its characteristics and features, but the adhesive substance acquires what was available in the store. Why is this a mistake? Because the best and most expensive tile is held precisely due to the quality of the adhesive mixture. And if it does not fit, very soon the tile will begin to recede, and as a result - break. One of the highest quality adhesives for its installation is Litokol K 80.
Material Features
The substance is available as a dry mixture. It is designed to fix porcelain stoneware and ceramic tiles on any type of foundation. This may be
concrete, underfloor heating, old tile flooring and other types of surfaces. The basis for the manufacture of the mixture was cement, to which synthetic resins and special substances were added.
A distinctive feature of the adhesive substance "Litokol K 80" is the ability to use it in the manufacture of floor coverings on electric or water heating systems.
Specifications
Thanks to the use of this material, it is much easier to carry out installation work, since the substance is convenient in use. But the main advantages that distinguish Litokol K 80 glue from similar products are their technical characteristics. These are:
- The ability to withstand at least 50 cycles of freezing and thawing.
- The maturation of the solution takes 5 minutes.
- The material may remain usable for at least 8 hours after mixing.
- The temperature at which the material retains its properties is +5 ... +40 ° C.
- For each sq. m leaves from 2 to 5 kg of glue. The quantity depends on the size of the tile and the condition of the substrate.
- The adhesive layer can be applied with a thickness of 2 to 5 mm, the maximum number is 8 mm. The layer cannot be smaller - then it will not provide reliable adhesion of both surfaces.
- Correction is possible within half an hour.
- Available in bags weighing 25 kg.
Material advantages
Glue "Litokol", due to its composition, has many important properties for the operation of the material. It:
- High adhesion, which allows to equip coatings even in those places where a large cross-country ability and high loads are expected.
- Excellent elasticity. This feature of the material compensates for the tension between the tile and the base. Due to this, even in the event of thermal or structural deformation, the tile remains intact.
- Moisture resistance. Glue is not destroyed by water, therefore, tiles can be laid in rooms where humidity parameters are quite high. These are not only bathtubs and showers, but also basements, production shops, medical facilities, exhibition and shopping centers, etc.
- Frost resistance. Due to this property, the adhesive substance "Litokol K 80" can be used for facing surfaces outside buildings.
- Increased pot life. Therefore, there is usually enough time to completely use up the solution without waste.
- Fast hardening. After the installation is completed, you can start mashing the tile joints on the walls after 7-8 hours, and on the floor after a day.
- Low cost - at "Litokol K 80" the price is about 1950-2000 rubles. per bag weighing 25 kg.
Application Features
The strength of the joint depends on how Litoflex K80 is so correctly applied, and as a result, the quality of the veneered surfaces. Therefore, the work must be done as follows: apply glue to the base. This should be done with the smooth side of the spatula. The adhesive must be applied with a layer of approximately 1 mm. Apply a solution from above, applying the side of the tool with teeth for this. The size of the teeth depends on the size of the tile.
It’s worth choosing a putty knife so that in one motion you can cover 70% of the tile surface when working inside buildings and 100% in the street. Next, tiles are laid on the prepared surface. Apply Litoflex K80 glue on it only when very high demands are made on the surface to be coated.
Scope of application
Glue "Litokol" is produced to finish the exterior and interior. This may be work on:
- Facing with ceramic tiles of facades, stairs, terraces, loggias;
- installation of natural stone, clinker and other materials.
Moreover, work is possible not only with a stable base, but also with surfaces subject to deformation. What is noteworthy, the material fulfills its purpose so qualitatively that sliding tiles from vertical surfaces is impossible.
But in order to ensure high-quality fixation of the elements, it is necessary to properly prepare the base. It should be even, dry, have sufficient bearing capacity. In addition, paint, oils, greasy traces, dust and any other substances must first be removed from the surface. If left, this can lead to a decrease in the adhesive ability of the adhesive.
Recommendations for use
In order for Litokol K 80 to retain all its properties, the following tips must be observed:
- Cement, lime and other materials should not be added to the product.
- Before working, dust must be removed from the back of the tile. Soak the tiles do not need.
- If the environment has high humidity and low temperature, it will take more time to harden the substance. It will take more to harden if the adhesive layer is too thick.
- Use the product for purposes that are not provided for in the technical description is unacceptable.
