For many years now, natural anomalies have occupied a significant place in news releases. They started talking about global climate change in the 20th century, but now this topic is becoming increasingly relevant.
The natural anomalies of 2013 alone brought a lot of problems, the consequences of which people still can not fully cope with.
At the very beginning of the year, the strongest storm in the last two decades fell upon Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Syria and Israel. Authorities were forced to close many municipal buildings, cancel flights and prohibit maritime movements. In several places, a snow layer of up to 1 m high was recorded. There were no casualties: in total, the storm claimed the lives of 20 people.
Natural anomalies in February 2013 are generally a separate issue. As you know, it was in this month that the famous Ural meteorite fell. Glasses were badly damaged in many buildings, and a huge number of injured were admitted to hospitals. Fortunately, the meteorite fell far from settlements.
More than eighty people were injured in Taiwan in March. It was here that one of the most powerful earthquakes with an amplitude of 6.3 occurred over the past few years. The vast majority of injuries are the result of collapsed buildings and fallen objects.
April 2013 is also difficult to call a peaceful month. This time, natural anomalies touched the Midwest of the United States - as a result of the spring flood of the Mississippi River , severe flooding began. Several dams collapsed under the pressure of water, and its level was significantly higher than the norm. Some barges were unable to stop at the ports and continued to sail adrift. Others completely went under water. However, the natural anomalies in America did not end there.
Literally the following month, in May, as many as 76 tornadoes swept through the vastness of the USA, destroying thousands of buildings on their way and taking the lives of hundreds of people. Amounts required to cover insurance reach just huge amounts.
The most striking event of June, undoubtedly, was the disaster in India. As a result of a massive flood, several thousand people died. However, this was only the beginning. Due to the large number of bodies, an epidemic began, the only way to combat which was to burn corpses on the spot. But such extreme measures were not fully effective: many hundreds of people, among whom were also intelligence agents, nevertheless caught a gastrointestinal infection. The situation was further complicated by the floods of mud, demolishing entire villages along the way.
Abnormal heat in Japan in July also caused casualties. 85 people died in the Land of the Rising Sun as a result of heat stroke, many were treated with the consequences of overheating in hospitals. The number of such complaints was twice as high as last year.
September was the hardest month for China. The powerful typhoon Usagi touched many settlements, including large cities. The authorities promptly took appropriate measures: closed schools, canceled the sending of trains and flights. However, the victims could not be avoided at all: about 30 people died, many buildings were badly damaged. In some areas, waves up to 10 meters high were recorded.
In October, typhoons continued to rampage. According to experts, the damage was done to at least 7 million people. Less than 10 of them died, and four were reported missing. In many places, the power supply stopped, the roads were washed out, and several dams were broken.
Cataclysms also did not pass Europe. At the end of October, hurricane Saint Jude swept across the whole territory of North-Western Europe. It began in Ireland and reached St. Petersburg itself. The victims of the raging elements were 17 people.
Wind speed reached an incredible mark of 120 km / h.
The real nightmare of November was the typhoon that affected the Philippines. At the moment, there is information about the hundred dead, and the bodies of many were found right on the side of the road. At the moment, they are sending to the Philippines everything they need to restore the area and search for missing people.
One can only hope that the next natural anomalies are not waiting for us today, and the last month of 2013 will bring us only a festive New Year mood.
