Wilgeforts from Roggeveen is a fictional character in the book universe of The Witcher. He is a sorcerer and is considered one of the main members of the Chapter. It was he who inspired the sorcerers to revolt during the events on Tanedda. Wilgeforts from Roggeveen is one of the main antagonists of the book series about the adventures of the witcher Geralt.
The future sorcerer was an orphan when he was taken to his training and education druids. He studied magic already in adulthood. Wilgeforts from Roggeveen is a misanthrope who primarily thinks and acts, only guided by his own "I". This is an example of such a type of scientists for whom the idea and purpose far exceed the means that they use.
It is worth noting that this character has never appeared in any game related to the Witcher universe. Despite the fact that many book heroes appeared in games, even if they were dying, like Geralt or Regis, it did not help Wilgeforts. Unfortunately for fans, as going through a game with such a character would be great fun.
What do sorcerers look like?
At the first appearance in the book, the appearance of Wilgeforts from Roggeveen is described as a classically handsome, impressive and tall man. He could be given no more than 35 years. His facial features are noble and correct, and his voice is distinguished by sincerity and respect.
Before the incidents on Tanedda, he possessed the noble beauty that was inherent in all sorcerers. Nevertheless, after a riot and battle with Tsiri, and after - with the witcher, his appearance changes dramatically. The entire left side of his face has terrible injuries. His face is covered with gold clips and clips that help support the crystal in his left eye socket. This mineral was used instead of the eye, so the mage had three-dimensional vision.
After some time, he loses his support for the eye, but from this he did not look less intimidating. His face was never able to get in order, and the restored eye was much smaller than normal. At the same time, he often spontaneously spun when the sorcerer became furious or was excited by something.
Skills & Abilities
Despite the fact that by the standards of sorcerers, Wilgeforts from Roggeveen was young, he was famous for his magnificent talent. His power was so great that he could fight on equal terms with several powerful opponents at the same time. He had the strength not only to confront Jennifer, Keira Mets, Sabrina Glevissig and Philippe Eilhart, but also at the same time to have time to laugh in the face of the defeated archmaster Tissae de Vrieux.
He also very successfully opposed the battle against the weakened Jennifer, Geralt and Regis. Recall that Regis is the highest vampire, an extremely dangerous creature, and at that moment was at the peak of his abilities. During this battle, everything rumbled so that the entire castle trembled to its foundation. Moreover, Wilgeforts at that time still managed to boast philosophically, to throw lightnings and break stone columns with fire. He easily threw the witcher through the entire hall and, without complications, dealt with the powerful Jennifer. Moreover, the sorcerer was also able to easily destroy the highest vampire. He melted it, turning it into a shapeless block. It is worth considering that vampires are generally resistant to heat and do not burn at all.
Who is Wilgefortz from Roggeveen? He was a capable and talented sorcerer. Without special difficulties, he also mastered classical magic for the majority, like telekinesis, the ability to materialize objects from the air, created illusions, controlled matter, mastered the science of accelerated wound healing, practiced the magic search for necessary items, knew how to create portals and much more. It is worth paying tribute to the sorcerer. Even after receiving severe injuries, he was able to teleport himself. When a portal from Tsiri exploded in the tower of Tor Lara, he received serious damage, but did not lose his confidence.
Dangerous adversary
In the book, the sorcerer mentioned in a conversation with Ciri that she would not be able to escape from his castle using her gift. This means that he managed to find a way to neutralize the skills of the Elder Blood.
In addition to his outstanding magical abilities, Wilgeforts is distinguished by dexterity and high speed. He is capable of fencing incomparably, but during the battle he most often prefers to use a spear or a six-foot metal shield. Twice, he decided to use just such a weapon to confront Geralt. It is difficult to doubt the skill of his fencing, because in an equal battle against the witcher, he was able to severely cripple Geralt, who is the strongest fencer in the North, without great difficulties. Although it is impossible not to admit that during the battle the sorcerer used his magic tricks, thanks to which he managed to get ahead of the enemy’s movements.
How did he die?
Wilgeforts of Roggeveen died due to cunning. The witcher used the magic amulet that Friniguilla Vigo made for him instead of the lost witch. He helped Geralt impose an illusion that Wilgeforts could not recognize immediately, since he did not expect such a magic trick from an ordinary witcher. In many ways, the sorcerer lost because of his exorbitant pride and self-confidence. With a powerful blow, he defeated the Elder Vampire, but with Jennifer and Geralt he was amused, stretching the battle for his pleasure. Nevertheless, Jennefer claimed that after injuries during the explosion of the portal, Wilgeforts was not able to restore his coordination normally, so he often missed targets.
Superb Regeneration
It is important to note the ability of Wilgeforts to heal himself. He is a famous sorcerer in history who was able to cure very serious injuries without assistance. After all, most of his face, chest, neck was badly damaged. This applies not only to the skin, but also to the muscles and the eyeball. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the sorceress Philip Eilhart tried to repeat the achievements of Wilgefort after King Radovid V the Ferocious gouged out her eyes. She tried to use agates to replace, but she did not succeed in achieving the result of Wilgefort. The enchantress claims that such a procedure is very complex and requires a great magical potential from the magician.
Possible meeting with Mr. Mirror
In the supplement “Stone Hearts,” the professor of occultism at the Oxenfurt Academy mentions that there was only one person on the territory of the Northern Kingdoms who was able to successfully break the deal with this demon for himself. He managed to defeat Gunther o'Dim in a particular test or game.
In the fan world there is a completely justified theory according to which the professor was talking specifically about Wilgefort.
The meeting of Wilgeforts from Roggeveen and Gunther o'Dim could be exactly that event, thanks to which the sorcerer received such unrivaled talent and abilities. Nevertheless, this remained speculation, because Andrzej Sapkowski never recognized the plot of the game as a canon, and the developers never engaged in the analysis of numerous fan theories regarding the fate of the characters.
Is there Wilgefortz from Roggeveen at Gwint?
Despite the fact that this card game is replete with a large variety of characters from books and games on the Witcher universe, the powerful wizard himself does not occur in it.
