Bit of history
In 1913, city officials announced a competition for the best club building in the city. Won the project of Konstantin Babykin. So there was a new Business Club with an Art Nouveau facade and a concert hall. In 1915, the first stone was laid for construction, and in 1920 the building was completely ready.
For a decade, the Business Club has become a theater. In 1934, the first symphony concert was held in the building. In 1936, the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Society was created instead of the Business Club. In the same year, on September 29, her first season opened. Over time, a global restructuring of the organization began.
European models and American methods have become new information and managerial technologies being introduced into academic art . The Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Society is the first organization in Russia to receive recognition of the year. From that moment, she was awarded the academic title. In the 60s. many new works have appeared. The Sverdlovsk Orchestra became the first interpreter of the Ural composers and musical classics. Fruitful cooperation came out with the choirs of the country. The programs more and more often began to appear the names of modern foreign composers.
In the 70s. thanks to the Philharmonic, Sverdlovsk confirmed the reputation of one of the largest music centers in the country. In these years, the names of creative personalities appeared on posters: G. Rozhdestvensky, M. Shostakovich, G. Kremer and many others. The Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Hall gained fame not only thanks to famous guests, but also due to its own tours around the country.
At the end of the 80s. The development of international contacts has begun. A Russian-American program has appeared, within the framework of which many cultural events are still taking place. They are attended by American conductors and soloists. Then a new movement appeared with the addition of concerts with thematic exhibitions, creative meetings and various contests. Listeners got the opportunity to get acquainted with the works of new authors and genres.
History of the orchestra
The orchestra, on the basis of which the Philharmonic was created, appeared two years earlier. Then the young conductor Mark Paverman, who graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, arrived in the capital of the Urals. He organized the Sverdlovsk Symphony Orchestra and became its leader. It included musicians of the radio committee and the Opera and Ballet Theater. The first concert took place on April 9, 1934.
The first seasons of the Philharmonic
The initial seasons reflected the general atmosphere of the 30s. The desire for a new, unknown, creative upsurge - all this was offered to music lovers by the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic. The poster was full of names of famous artists: Antonina Nezhdanova, Ksenia Derzhinsky, etc. Young musicians also performed: Berta Maranz, students of Heinrich Neuhaus and many others.
Participation in the concert programs of famous artists contributed to the upbringing of the young team. The repertoire, in addition to classical works, was replenished with more modern works. In the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic, the orchestra was one of the first to play the symphonies of Prokofiev, Khachaturian, and others. In 1938, Reynold Glier performed an original concert. Performed works of many Ural composers.
Chef work of the Philharmonic
In the 40s. The Sverdlovsk Philharmonic, whose season tickets were sold out with a bang, became the musical island of Ural life. Throughout history, the team devoted a lot of time to patronage work. Philharmonic today
Now the Philharmonic Hall boasts the largest organ. Behind him are not only eminent Russian artists, but also their foreign colleagues. In 2014, the body was modernized. In recent years, the Philharmonic has initiated many large-scale federal projects. For example, the festival "Eurasia", which brings together talented performers from around the world.
The symphony forum has become a venue for meetings of Russian orchestras. The Bakovsky Festival is a personal event of B. Berezovsky. For the first time in Russia, it was in the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic that the festival of piano duets was held. As a result, the life of Yekaterinburg is significantly and constantly enriched by cultural offers of the capital level.
The Sverdlovsk State Academic Philharmonic holds annually approximately 2,000 concerts in one season: 200 performances in a large hall, the rest in seven branches in different cities of the Sverdlovsk Region. The Philharmonic also gives concerts in schools, kindergartens and universities of Yekaterinburg.
