Machines or saws designed for trimming or cross-cutting sawn timber, such as building moldings, beams, boards, etc., are called trimming. This equipment is used in the woodworking industry, namely in furniture, carpentry and sawmill production of medium and high power.
The trimming machine consists of the following parts:
- Box bed (there is a shaft with a transmission in it).
- Saw shaft (connected to the motor by the drive).
- Electrical engine.
Operating principle
The shaft is in a swinging frame. With the help of a hydraulic drive, the saw travels along the lower surface of the table. This type of equipment is perfect for sawmills. With the hydraulic cylinder, the workpiece is firmly fixed during operation. Automatic locking occurs before raising the miter saw thanks to the common hydraulic cylinder. When using the correct clamp design, no chips appear on the surface. To increase the safety of work, a locking system is used, which turns off the trimming machine, two-handed operation, electrodynamic braking.
Trimming machine happens:
- single saw;
- two-saw;
- multi-saw (with mechanical and manual feed).
Single Saw Miter Machine
During operation, the miter saw performs the following functions. On the carriage, consisting of an arm and a platform, a workpiece is fed to the saw, which moves along the guides along the rollers. At the same time, this device moves with the help of spikes sliding in the grooves, and has a fixed guide ruler located perpendicular to the saw blade. For clamping parts use a special device. An emphasis mounted parallel to the disc limits the length of the trim.
Two-Saw Trimming Machine
The two-saw trimming machine processes parts from two ends. One saw is mobile, the other is mounted tightly on the shaft. The carriage runs along the inner rails.
Universal and circular saws
For cutting at an angle, across or along, universal or circular saw machines are used. Trimming is performed in two ways. In the first, the batch is trotted on one side without stop, and on the other - all the way. In the second, work begins without stop, then the stop is thrown, the bookmark is turned over and cut from the other side to the stop. The second method is preferable due to the overturning of the packs and throwing the stop, since the time spent in this case is much less.
Saws
Miter saws are used in work for trimming boards and whetstones.
Their varieties:
- Pendulum (with a vertically suspended frame).
- With rectilinear spindle movement. Provide articulation to each other, have horizontal guides.
- Balancing saws with a horizontal frame that swings on the axis and has a spindle at the end.
Such machines use a manual or mechanized device that feeds a saw spindle to the material being processed. It itself is located under the table on which the board is sawn. In production, articulated and caliper machines with straight feed to the workpiece are more common.
