The first and second chapters of the game

Here the player is waiting for the second battle. To start a fight or not - it all depends on the option chosen in the dialogue. Next, go to the throne room. There you will be offered to increase the level of characters and distribute skill points. After a dialogue with the leader of the settlement, your companion Iver is about to leave the city. There are no important choices in the dialogue, they differ only in wording and will not affect anything in the future history of Banner Saga. Passage continues already outside the city.
The hard way to the neighboring settlement of Frostwell is accompanied by battles. The complexity of the fighting is gradually growing, so do not forget to buy supplies before leaving each city. The caravan is very tired and moving unevenly, so it is wiser to make a decision about the rest.
There will be hunters along the way who can join the Viking squad. However, for this it is necessary to have a certain number of fame and provisions.
The road ahead is not long, and many participants in the caravan break down. One such case occurs at night when one person gets drunk and fights. The main character is responsible for what to do with the culprit.
In general, the path to the city will take the entire second chapter of Banner Saga. Passage continues in the third part of the game.
Third chapter
Now the path of the caravan lies to Vedrefell. On the way there are regular robbers who no longer pose any threat to our caravan. After all, even more Vikings joined the squad. There will be a small reference to the new part of the Banner Saga 2 series, so be careful.
On the road there will be a small camp of merchants. You can bargain with them, talk. In any case, these NPCs are peaceful, so we pass them by. It is not recommended to buy provisions from them, as they sell stale products. Because of this, the caravan can be poisoned.
Next will meet the army of dredges. Now the player will get acquainted not only with small battles, but also with another mode called war. It is a table comparing the forces of opponents with the forces of the player, and it is proposed to choose one of the developments: attack, battle formation, defense, retreat and automatic decision-making of the battle. Very similar to the principle of battles on a global map from any part of Total War.
Chapter four
In the fourth chapter, the scene is transferred to the city of Frostwell. Near its surroundings is our caravan and cannot get inside. While we are outside the walls of the settlement, you can complete several additional quests.
Stock up on supplies in the local market, as they brought in products. Before leaving the city, several Vikings will want to join your squad.
If you decide not to leave the city, but to stay in it, then the course of events will go along a slightly different path.
Fifth and sixth chapters
Now we are again moving to the main characters of the third chapter of Banner Saga. Passage continues in the city of Sigrholm. Here you have three branches of events. You can assemble your squad and leave the city, help destroy the bridge or help protect it. The choice depends entirely on the decision of the player.
It is best to help residents, as it will bring a lot of experience and military glory. You have to withstand three difficult battles during which you can lose fighters, so be careful.
But protecting the bridge still will not work - it will be broken by magic. You just have to leave the city with your caravan. The Banner Saga, a review of which may take several pages of text, has almost passed to the final stage of the development of the plot. Next begins the penultimate chapter of the game.
On the way to the new city, you have to complete several simple quests. You can choose a long way and spend a lot of time, or you can go on a short road. But it will meet many enemies, so it's up to you. It’s better to go around, as in battle you can lose more than half of the people. And going around will give you extra fame points. Also in the sixth chapter there are a number of side missions, which are completely optional.
Final chapter
The entire chapter is devoted to the siege of Bersgard. The whole battle will take place in five stages, one battle per day. Opponents will be stronger every day, so your squad will lose many units. On the last day, a battle with the boss awaits. After that, the game ends, and the continuation of the story can be seen in The Banner Saga 2.
