In September 2012, an action called “For Life” was held in the capital of Latvia, the purpose of which was to inform women and their families about abortions and the consequences that women may expect after that. At the beginning of the action, an installation was presented to people, which was placed in Old Riga near the Hotel de Rome. The monument to unborn children consists of 27 sculptures in the form of small children. Why exactly 27? That is the number of abortions, according to statistics, every day in Latvia. Near each baby there is a small pedestal in which 27 stories are written in three languages (Russian, English and Latvian), or rather the reasons why the mothers of these kids decided on an abortion. For example, a woman already has a child, and her husband is dead, and she decides that she cannot raise two full members of society and agrees to an abortion. The author of this work is Eva Riekstinya.

The organizers of the action decided at least in this way to reach out to women who want to have an abortion. It is very important that such families have full information about this terrible decision, and most importantly, realize what will happen to them later. Since in such situations, most women are driven by fear, and they don’t think what they are doing.

An abortion is the killing of an unborn person, and are we entitled to decide who is worth living?

We cannot judge or blame someone, but we must decide for ourselves. Of course, there are significant reasons why women have an abortion, for example, a child’s disease that will lead to death, pathologies that are not compatible with life, and so on. And if a woman decides to have an abortion, because she just does not need a child? This is dedicated to the monument to unborn children in Riga.
