Why is roof waterproofing necessary?

Roof waterproofing is designed to save roofing materials, as well as rafters from the effects of precipitation and reagents that can be dissolved in them. This is done using a huge amount of mastics and polymeric materials, as well as various bitumen mixtures. The choice of mastic influences the durability, as well as other protective properties of the structure. Roof waterproofing can be carried out using traditional methods or advanced technologies that differ not only in cost but also in labor intensity.

Roof waterproofing
After building a house and installing a roof, the structure is protected from atmospheric precipitation. When using the so-called cold roof, everything will be in order, it will always be dry, so there is no point in warming it. A completely different situation with the insulation of the roof, which will be done after some time, especially if something non-frost-resistant is stored under it. This raises the question of how roof waterproofing can be done? It is worth saying that doing it yourself is not so difficult.

Garage Roof Waterproofing
Previously, roofing material or other waterproofing material was placed under the slate , which passed water if it was improperly laid or there were holes from nails. At the moment, there are many modern materials in the form of films that can perform their functions efficiently. Such materials are mainly composed of propylene and non-woven fibrous material. Such a film is laid up glossy. In this case, the material will let air through, but will not let water in, and neither rain water nor condensation will be inside the roof. The appearance inside a condensate can only be due to the fact that conditions are created in the roof that are favorable for its appearance, that is, a dew point. In the case of a cold roof, this option is excluded, as it is well ventilated, and the temperature inside is the same as outside.

Flat roof waterproofing
The waterproofing film on the lower non-glossy side has an anti-condensation layer consisting of a pile. Such a surface, like a sponge, absorbs a large amount of moisture, ridding its excess of a warm roof. Moisture dries safely when humidity levels change. You can fix the insulation to the already finished roof. It is quite convenient.

Waterproofing the roof of a garage or other structure can be done by two or more people, which significantly speeds up the process. When the film is fixed, the edges should be cut with a construction knife. After this, you can begin to fix the crate on the outside. And from the inside, you need to fix the counter grill. To do this, rails of the same width as the rafters, fixed with stainless screws, are used. Each film layer is stacked with an overlap of about 10 centimeters (not less). For additional insulation, the joint is glued with adhesive tape.

The waterproofing of a flat roof is essentially the same as the operation with other types of roof. This process is quite long and laborious.

Despite the fact that roof waterproofing is a rather complicated process, the result is worth it!
