But they also have one important drawback: they constantly require a network connection. Accordingly, it is important to choose the right extension cord on the reel. Why so? Because it’s much more convenient to drag a compact coil around the site, which, if necessary, can be quickly rolled up, and not walk with a couple of tens of meters of cable! What parameters should be considered?
Maximum load
This is the most important indicator. Each extension on the reel must be marked on the housing. As a rule, for home use, average power (within 2.5 kW) is not bad, since standard electric saws are rarely more powerful.
Cable color
Oddly enough, but this is also an important indicator. What cable do you think you can cut while standing on a ladder and trimming garden trees? Of course, the one whose color merges with the bark of a tree. What this might threaten, is certainly not worth reminding.
Coil
Since we choose an extension cord on the reel, it would be nice to pay attention to it. First, you need to try to twist it: if the mechanism gives out the cable without unnecessary effort, but also not too easy, then you can buy. In both opposite cases, nothing good awaits you.
If the reel unwinds too tight, you will be constantly forced to distract from work by supporting the cable. You are probably surprised that we did not touch on this aspect a bit earlier. If so, then you yourself probably know that if you use a powerful device that consumes almost the same power that the extension cord itself is designed for, the cable must be completely unwound.
