SDA: road marking. Description, specifications and rules

Every day on the roads of Russia and the CIS countries there are thousands of road traffic accidents with fatal consequences or serious injuries. According to statistics, almost all of them are associated with neglect of the basic rules of traffic rules. Marking is what every driver should know and understand. A deliberate or accidental violation of the rules associated with the installation of markings on this section of the roadway leads to fatal consequences for life and health.

SDA markup

I’ll slip through, they won’t notice!

Almost every second driver in Russia at least once deliberately violated traffic rules on road markings. This always happens under similar pretexts. Regardless of the reason, due to which the driver decides on an offense, the motive is always the same. A person was simply tired of waiting for the appearance of permit lines on the asphalt;

There are no policemen, but there is a traffic jam. Here, for example, a modern BMW brand car enters the oncoming lane, through two solid lines. A further scenario is known: the offending driver successfully completes his criminal maneuver. However, he may not always be so lucky: a head-on collision at speed - and at best, disability for life, and at worst - death. But, worst of all, innocent people will suffer. Violating traffic rules on road markings is impossible. This is not a rule, it is a law that is binding on everyone.

Yes, police officers may not notice a dangerous maneuver or simply not take action. But once a tragedy can become inevitable. It would seem a simple rule. In addition, everyone knows the markup and knows how to observe it, but from year to year the number of accidents is growing steadily.

The markup is different

The lanes responsible for traffic can be completely different. There are a lot of them. Many inexperienced drivers are wondering where you can learn the markup. SDA has not been canceled, everything is written there. This relatively small body of law contains information on all types and types of markup. Everything is illustrated with pictures, so the likelihood of misunderstanding is completely excluded.

Markup Types

The markup is divided into two types. These are permanent lines and temporary. The first are applied to the asphalt with weatherproof paint and stored for several years. As a rule, such markup in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and many CIS countries does not exist for long and is simply erased.

Temporary marking according to traffic rules is applied with orange or yellow paint. It is used if construction work is being carried out on the road section or is experimental. This type of road marking is in priority over the permanent one. If both types are present on the asphalt, the driver should stick to yellow.

traffic sign marking

What to do if there is simply no markup? The answer is simple: navigate the third type of road sign. These are invisible lines. The driver himself mentally divides the road into passing and oncoming directions, and by default there is supposedly a solid line between them. It sounds like a joke, but, unfortunately, this happens all the time. Many federal entities on secondary roads have not updated road markings for years. In some places, there’s nothing to do with it. Every novice driver is obliged to master the skills of driving on such roads, because it implies not only an intuitive separation of the roadway, but also constant monitoring of signs that would be able to clarify invisible lines. For example, in a section with permitted overtaking, the line will be clearly not continuous.

Road borders

In traffic rules, marking can regulate not only traffic flows on the roadway, but also be a kind of limiter. Particular attention should be paid to this when traveling internationally, especially in countries with developed bicycle infrastructure. Often there is no way to expand the old streets, which is why the restrictive marking delimits three segments at once: automobile, for bicycle transport and for pedestrians.

In Russia, a similar species is also often found, however, mainly on federal highways and highways. In cities, it is extremely rare and in most cases performs an aesthetic function.

Solid

In traffic rules, the continuous marking line is not considered the main, but it prevails. Even a child knows that with a solid white strip, overtaking is prohibited until the strip becomes intermittent. There are several types of such road markings, it is single and double. In the first case, the white bar prohibits overtaking and should be perceived by each driver as a physical obstacle. The double lane not only prohibits any maneuvers on this section of the road, but is also perceived by road users as an insurmountable wall. In the case of an offense, fair punishment will follow. Over crossing a double solid may invalidate. In addition, you should think carefully before breaking. Such markings are never placed on safe sections of the track. If it is there, it means that going into the oncoming lane is dangerous even for an experienced driver.

Signs

According to traffic rules, road signs and markings form a single system that indicates the driver the most acceptable behavior in this area. Signs can both duplicate the road marking, and contradict it. At first glance, in such a situation it will be more correct to be guided precisely by the markup. However, if you look at such an unpleasant situation through the prism of objectivity, we will notice that in almost all cities of the CIS countries the markup has not been updated for decades. It may simply become outdated and not coincide with new signs. The reverse situation is also known. If the attacker put another sign, then it will be more accurate to follow the markup. Such a logical incident gives rise to many legal conflicts. The legislator is working on a universal solution to this complex issue.

Lines

In good traffic editions, marking lines are colorfully illustrated. This is the most understandable information that is easy to remember. These types of lines are distinguished:

  • horizontal
  • vertical.

Vertical stripes

Vertical layout consists of black and white stripes, sometimes orange is present. Often they are tilted. This marking can be seen on the elements of various structures. Since such a solution strongly distinguishes a marked object, such markup plays an important role in visual response. Also, a similar selection of something perfectly outlines the dimensions of the dangerous object. The result is so clear that you can even see it on a foggy night.

If yellow - then priority!

In SDA marking mark does not exist. There is no need to show that there is a marking on this section of the track. It, by all rules, should always be applied to the roadway. However, sometimes characters replace markup. Most often this happens during the repair of a section of the road. In this situation, orange or yellow signs always take precedence over white lines. Of course, in addition to such designations, temporary markings should also be present, but they almost always save on it.

Varieties

In the rules of the SDA, the markup is very diverse. In addition to the general division into vertical and horizontal, temporary and permanent, there are also varieties of regulation. Horizontal markings are continuous, intermittent, intermittently continuous, double. This also includes arrows on the roadway. Images of warnings about photo and video recording of a traffic stream and even high-speed mode - all this is included in the general concept of horizontal marking.

The vertical one includes an indication of the supports of overpasses, concrete blocks, railway and pedestrian cores, fortified checkpoints and even any immovable object that poses a hypothetical danger to road users.
