Is it possible to sheathe a balcony with my own hands?

Now, having commissioned the house , many companies are trying in advance to glaze the facade so that it is decorated in the same style. This not only gives the city a neat appearance, but also protects the premises from rain and cold. But this was not always so, so the buyer of the apartment had to glass the balcony with his own hands. Multi-colored frames and different finishes bring discord, the facade of the house looks untidy already. This problem still worries many hosts. This is especially acute in old houses, where the walls do not meet the requirements for heat. Therefore, here you should use any option that will help reduce heat loss.

DIY balcony
If you decide to insulate and sew up the balcony with your own hands, then it is better to start with glazing. To do this, you can order plastic windows or use aluminum glazing from sliding loggias. This option is especially convenient when the size of the balcony is not very large. But since one glass is installed in the wings, this is a cooler option. Another interesting option is glazing using frameless structures. The shutters are not framed and can be moved in one direction, almost completely freeing the opening. This is very beneficial if the windows overlook the bay or park.

do-it-yourself balcony trim
Any of these options will protect the apartment from wind and rain, but this is sometimes not enough. Do-it-yourself balcony trim is needed to reduce heat loss. However, this is not always possible to do on their own. Most often, a loggia is sewn up, as it is protected on three sides. Therefore, it is easier to glaze and insulate. At the balcony, fences from below are sometimes made of metal gratings. So, you need to thoroughly insulate its lower part. If you decide to seriously approach the issue of insulation, then you should consider how to sheathe the ceiling and walls, what to lay on the floor. Only in this case, you can hope that glazing the balcony with your own hands will bring results.

DIY balcony glazing
The cheapest option is to use wood for glazing and cladding. But it is also the coldest, even if you use insulation, because usually the glazing in this case goes in one glass. If you want to not only insulate, but also sew up the balcony with your own hands, it is better to install plastic windows. Even if it is a single-chamber double-glazed window, it is still much warmer than just glass. Planks can be laid on the floor, tiles or underfloor heating can be laid. The walls are often sheathed with clapboard, laying a layer of any insulation. Sometimes they use plastic panels. A wide choice makes it possible to choose them by color and texture, even with imitation wood.

The most difficult thing is to insulate the ceiling. Before covering it, a lath is made, on which the facing material is then fixed. After all these works, when the balcony is already protected on all sides, you can use an additional element for heat. Install a heating battery or some household appliance. Of course, if you know how to hold tools in your hands, then you can insulate the balcony with your own hands and sheathe it. But in order not to spoil the facade much, it is better to invite the masters or use the services of the company. This will avoid misunderstandings and do not have to correct their work.
