The tunic is the upper part of the field, holiday and everyday uniforms with a special cut, which is used in many countries by internal organs and the military.
The history of tunic in Russia
The exact origin of the word has not yet been established. It came into use from the German language and means a bathrobe or blouse.
In Russia, the first tunic is a long canvas jacket, which appeared in the 18th century as clothing for the household work of the lower cavalry ranks. Later, this name was transferred to the officer's white coat for the warm season. So he became a linen double-breasted closed jacket with twelve buttons, elongated floors and a standing collar. The tunic was always worn with epaulets. He was shortened many times in accordance with fashion trends, and at the beginning of the 20th century he reached the length of his usual jacket.
In the Russian Navy, a tunic is a part of the form of white and blue tones with five buttons in a fastener. Shortly before the war, a blue tunic began to be used in aviation as clothing for various works.
Foreign trends
In the navy, air forces and army during the Second World War, widespread tunics of an updated form, which were similar to the models of France and England, became widespread. They began to call them French. Tailoring the collar became the main focus of the design, it could be with a soft stand, like a tunic collar with buttons, or a turn-down. Large patch pockets with zippers on the floors were also present. Among the pilots of that time, a tunic is an English jacket with an expanded collar and the possibility of wearing a tie.
The most diverse cut in tunics appeared by 1918. The decree was met only in
the navy, front-line associations and headquarters. But the new naval and military minister removed
this order as well. He preferred a free-tunic jacket. Soon followed his example, many commanders of the armed associations. The old uniform was changed to a new model, but not everyone complied with this order, as a result, the fleet also lost a single sample of a tunic.
Dress jacket
In the internal organs and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, a tunic is also a parade uniform, which does not differ from everyday life in color or in tailoring. In the documentation, a women's tunic is referred to as a jacket. With the exception of the internal organs and the Armed Forces, uniforms are usually called a jacket. In the Navy, white and blue tunic is not used, but such a name as a jacket is used.
