Documents for travel to Ukraine: general rules
The governments of Russia and Ukraine signed an agreement on visa-free travel for their citizens, therefore, for Ukrainians to enter Russia and Russians to Ukraine, you only need an identity document and proof of citizenship - an internal passport of an approved state standard. If among the travelers there is a citizen of the Russian Federation who has not reached the age of 16, then he will need the following documents to travel to Ukraine: the original birth certificate with a stamp confirming citizenship, or a separate insert certifying this (issued before 2007). It should be noted that Russians can already have a passport when they are 14 years old. If children and their parents or one of them cross the border, then no additional documents will be required at the border. If the child travels alone (meaning without relatives), then he will need such documents for entry into Ukraine: birth certificate, power of attorney for the accompanying person with confirmation of the consent of the parents (or one of them). The last document must be certified by a notary, otherwise it will be invalid and the child will not be released from the country.

Those wishing to make a trip in their own car must have the following documents for travel to Ukraine: passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, a driver’s license, a certificate of registration of a car (TCP is not needed), liability insurance policy. If the owner of the car is not driving, but is in it as a passenger, then no additional documents need to be issued. If the owner of the car remained in Russia, the driver must provide a power of attorney for the right to drive a vehicle , notarized.
It is worth paying attention to the fact that the address of the owner's registration in the certificate of registration of the vehicle must match the address of registration in his passport. According to the legislation of the Russian Federation, when changing the owner’s place of residence, the certificate must also be replaced. In Ukraine, there is no clear rule on this matter, but Ukrainian customs officials can prettyly pat their nerves for it.
Insurance is issued within 10 minutes at any customs at any time of the day. The nice thing is that neither at the border, nor during the registration of insurance, nor in Ukraine, any additional documents (medical certificates, inspection ticket) will be needed. But it is important to consider some requirements for the car. In Ukraine, it is forbidden to use vehicles with tinted front side and windshields, without a first aid kit and fire extinguisher, as well as importing more than 20 liters of gasoline (except for the tank) into the country.
