Plaster mixes: their varieties and methods of use

Plaster mixes - this is a building material intended for plastering walls. They are used for both outdoor and indoor use . This material was still in use by the builders of the pyramids. Cement, lime and gypsum mixtures are known .

plaster mixes
In modern construction, plaster mixtures are used, made on the basis of the same cement, lime and gypsum, but with the addition of various polymer additives, which make it possible to give the material additional strength, moisture resistance and resistance to mold and fungus.

Modern specialists for work for a long time do not make stucco solutions themselves, but use ready-made ones. These are dry plaster mixes manufactured industrially and packaged in bags of 25-50 kilograms. The finished material is diluted with water according to the instructions.

Plaster mixes can be of the following varieties:

dry plaster mixes
Cement-lime - are used for plastering walls of brick, concrete, foam and gas blocks. They are used for internal (for example, a mixture of M-25 - for dry rooms, M-50 - for wet) and outdoor works (for the facade - M-100). This material is made from cement, dry lime, sand and special additives for moisture resistance and ductility.

Mixtures with synthetic additives. They are characterized by increased ductility and good adhesion to the base. It is used as the primary (base) wall plaster of any material.

Mixture for interior use - designed for plastering walls in a room with high humidity. It is possible to use this material on a gypsum base.

Plaster mix front. With increased moisture resistance. It is used on brick, concrete and cement-lime plaster.

gypsum plaster mixes
Gypsum plaster mixes are designed for concrete and brick. They are used indoors and outdoors. They can be applied manually and with special machines. After plastering with gypsum mortar, there is no need to putty. Walls can be painted or wallpapered immediately. Gypsum plaster is used if it is not necessary to level the surface.

In addition to the main varieties, there are also special plaster mixtures that have frost-resistant or waterproofing properties. Frost-resistant is designed to level complex surfaces, withstands low temperatures up to -15 degrees. Waterproofing can be used in a room with a high level of humidity. This mixture has a very high ductility.

Each type of plaster mix has its own technology. But there are some general rules that must be followed. Walls intended for plastering must be cleaned of old material and, if necessary, degreased. Before work, it is necessary to determine what complexity the surface and what layer of plaster will be applied. This is necessary in order to prepare the necessary material. Not every mixture is suitable for leveling. On average, a plaster layer is applied from 5 to 20 mm, but there is a need to apply a 30 mm layer, for this a special plaster is needed. Dry material is diluted with clean water at room temperature and mixed until smooth. The appearance of lumps is unacceptable.
