Pur River: description and photo

In the Kara Sea basin there is the Pur River. Its length is 389 kilometers. And with the Pyakupur River and its tributary. Yangyagun - 1,024 kilometers. Pur is one of the longest Russian rivers. The area of its basin is 112 thousand square kilometers. Pur flows into the Kara Taz Bay.

River geography

The river flows in the Yamal-Nenets district. The pond has approximately 6,351 water outflows. Of these, nearly eighty percent are less than ten kilometers long. Rivers with a length of 50-100 kilometers - 57. And more than a hundred kilometers - 40. The heights of the Pura are from 15 to 50 meters above sea level. The width of the channel is from 200 to 850 meters. The depth of the rifts is 1.2 meters. The Pur River flows through the permafrost region. Therefore, warm islets are rare.

In the Pur basin, the main minerals are oil and natural gas. Carnelian and agate gems are found in the valley of the reservoir. The Pur River flows in the tundra and forest zones. Most of the channel is located in the northern taiga. The wetland along the Pur River is approximately seventy percent. The food of the river is mostly snowy. Pura is characterized by spring floods, winter and summer low water and autumn floods.

Flora and fauna

In the upper reaches of the river deciduous, coniferous and lichen-moss forests grow. In the middle of the river and in the lower reaches, the reservoir is surrounded by shrubs and floodplain meadows. The Pur River is rich in whitefish (omul, chir, vendace, etc.). And also there is a lot of crucian carp, sterlet, roach and other little things. At the mouth you can catch flounder and salmon. But in winter, lack of fish is observed on the river. All underwater animals try to concentrate in the narrow tributaries or outlets of groundwater.

Crossing

One of the longest Russian reservoirs is the Pur River. Crossing through it is a pontoon-bridge. Transport and various cargo are transported along it. The ferry is equipped with floating supports. Despite the huge mass, the structure is completely unsinkable. The advantage of this crossing is that it can be used anywhere in the river. Moreover, additional links periodically join the bridge. As a result, the length of the crossing increases significantly. It consists of several parts:

  • bridge pontoon sections;
  • coastal retainers;
  • flooring;
  • ramp, or inclined platform.

The ferry is two-way, which is its great advantage. This increases throughput. Crossing capacity - up to 100 tons. This floating bridge is easy to assemble and dismantle. Sometimes the ferry is used as a pier for small river boats.

Bridge

In 2015, it was planned to build a bridge over the Pur River. And the development of a technical plan was almost completed. The bridge was planned to be built between the village of Urenga and Korotchaevo station. The construction was supposed to withstand the movement of cars. Therefore, according to the plan, eleven supports were to be installed.

The bridge over Pur should be one kilometer long, and road approaches - 2700 meters. Along the entire structure will be installed modern lighting, alarm and video surveillance. The bridge is designed to carry large volumes of cargo.

Therefore, the passage through the auto crossing through Pur will be paid. An exception is made only for the local population. The construction of the bridge requires six billion rubles. In 2016, the bridge project was awaiting final approval. And the construction deadlines are set from 2017 to 2019.

The bridge over the Pur River is very important for the development of the region. A new transition is part of the Arctic development plan. At the moment, only a pontoon ferry operates between Korotchaevo station and the village of Urengoy. But much will change in the coming years when a new bridge is built across this river.
