The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has many different factions that allow the player to join them and complete various tasks. During the passage of these storylines, you get acquainted with the foundations of a particular group, study the characters and at the end make your opinion about them. One of these is Rune - in "Skyrim" he stands for a fraction of thieves.
Who it?
Rune of descent imperial who joined the thieves. His biography cannot boast of fun and joyful moments. As a child, the hero was on a ship that crashed near the coast of Solitude. Unexpectedly, the character survived the storm, after which he was thrown unconscious to the shore.
After some time, the boy was found by a local fisherman. He sheltered the hero and hosted the family. The old man took care of the boy, taught him fishing skills and supported him in every way. Initially, he did not know anything about the character’s past, not even his name. Therefore, the fisherman decided to call the guy Rune in honor of the gem that was with him at the moment when he was discovered on the shore. This stone strongly resembled ancient runes, therefore a similar name was assigned to the victim of a shipwreck.
Joining the Thieves Guild
The hero lived with a fisherman until he died of old age. After this, Rune decided to look for himself in this world, and most importantly - to find out about his origin, parents, and the past as a whole. Since no one survived from that ship, and people found only a small child, hardly anyone could share the story of his family with Rune.
The path leads the character to the Thieves Guild, to which he willingly joins. In it, he becomes an exemplary participant in the faction, and also spends time and money on finding a family and unraveling the mysterious stone with runes, in whose honor he was named.
Cut quest
Since the Guild brought a consistently high income to Rune, in Skyrim, he turns to the College of Winterhold to show them a stone. If you question him in more detail, it becomes clear that no one helped him unravel the mystery of the scratched runes on the surface of the stone.
It is curious that in the Cistern (the refuge of the faction) you can find a note that indicates that the Guild hired a special person to search for the parents of Rune. The note also mentions that the person was unable to help. “They have completely disappeared in history,” Atel Newberry leaves such a message in his address.
Initially, the developers wanted to add a full-fledged quest related to the history of the Rune, and therefore left many prerequisites for this. Many players try to learn more about the character’s past, but the truth is that the quest itself was cut from the final version of Skyrim. Therefore, no one will be able to find out how the search ended, what the stone means, and who Rune really is. It remains only to build theories, look for grains of information in the game world!
