This unusual name has a plant in the game TES 5: Skyrim. It has a bright green color and grows near water bodies. Nirn root can be recognized by long narrow leaves, glow (especially at night) and ringing sound. He and his scarlet brother have similar alchemical properties, resulting in various potions. Poisons made from this plant have the same characteristics as potions from other ingredients. However, the first ones are much more expensive.
Historical data
Nirn root grows near large bodies of water, but is quite rare. Imperial botanists claim that some kind of cataclysm influenced its growth, and it cannot grow along roads (although it used to grow). Other plants were able to adapt to the new climatic conditions, and the magical nature of the root made it too sensitive to such changes.
Ah, this wonderful world is Skyrim! The root of Nirn has a mysterious and soft blue, white-blue glow in it. Over time, he changed his nature for survival and learned to exist in complete darkness (Black Reach). How could this happen? Botanists believe that after the eruption of Red Mountain ash was mixed with soil falling from the sky. The appearance of the plant has changed due to the presence of a rare substance - ash salt.
In ancient records it is indicated that the root is dying, because of which they did not have time to fully study it. It would make a lot of useful potions, the effects of which are even hard to imagine.
Where to looking for
You should be aware that all plants in the game after assembly re-grow (after some time). The same can be said about Root of Nirn. This ingredient can be found on sale with characters, next to which there is an alchemical table. As mentioned above, it can only be ripped off near large bodies of water. It is better to go at night to see the unusual glow of the plant (you can also focus on sound).
- The largest number of roots (8 pcs.) Can be found on the Sareti farm. They won’t be allowed to disrupt them just like that, so you have to negotiate with the owners of the site. Two more ingredients can be taken inside the house.
- Near the tavern “Half Moon” you need to go southwest towards the Hunter Rest. There are several ingredients in the middle of the path.
- In search of plants, it is worth walking near Riverwood.
- Four ingredients grow in the north of Dunstar.
- Near Whiterun there are several logs, near one of which a root grows.
What will happen if you eat the ingredient
The use of ingredients in food allows you to find out their beneficial properties. But at the same time, they have a negative effect on the character.
Root of Nirn (Skyrim) can:
- worsen health;
- reduce stamina;
- make the player invisible;
- improve resistance against magic spells.
If you try the ingredient in Black Limit or Cyrodiil, then health, stamina, speed or agility will decrease. It differs from its counterpart in that it does not have a positive effect on eating. But the Cyrodiil plant allows you to make various poisons, and also decomposes faster in the character’s blood. In Skyrim, the root grows again, but in Cyrodiil it does not.
Scarlet Root Nirn
In the game world, you can find this type of plant, which differs from its fellow in gigantic dimensions and red long leaves. This root grows in a single place - in the Black Edge. A mysterious glow and an unusual sound also come from him. Searching for this ingredient is easier because of its size and distribution over a small area. The plant is located near water and on land. However, in some places you can only swim.
As mentioned above, the ingredient has standard properties, which is similar to the usual root of Nirn (Skyrim). The only difference is that when it is consumed, more stamina and health are reduced. A red plant is needed not only for preparing potions, but also for completing the quest, which will be discussed below.
Return to the roots
This task is activated after reading the diary of Sinderion or plucking the first red root in the Black Limit. The diary can be found inside the laboratory (a small building) next to the skeleton of Sinderion. From it you can learn that a traveler and researcher put a lot of effort into the study and collection of plants. To create a kind of alchemical catalyst, he needed to find 30 samples. He did not have time to complete his work, as he was killed by the Falmer (underground residents, aggressive towards everyone from the surface).
The character will have to do the work of Sinderion - to find the required number of roots. They are evenly distributed throughout the Black Reach near water bodies. One plant can be picked in the laboratory, another one in the tower Silent ruins. In search of the remaining samples will have to go around the entire location. The good news is that looking for the Nirn Root is not difficult - its glow is visible from afar.
When the last copy is found, the whole set will have to be attributed to Avruz (on the Sareti farm). The character will tell her about the fate of Sinderion and give the plants back. In return, the woman will present a book telling about the root and give the active effect “Surprise Cinderion” (the ability to create 2 potions at once with a probability of 25%).
