Why do I need a road border?

The word "border" in translation from French is translated as "edge", "frame" or "border". In construction, the “road curb” is the name of the profile separator between the sidewalk and the carriageway. Relatively recently, it was not possible to purchase these products of proper quality, since the road curbs were made of low quality concrete. This made road stones unaesthetic, and they also did not meet the operational requirements for them.

road border
The road border has long been an integral part of the roadbed. When purchasing paving slabs, you must remember that the curb stones must be designed in the same style. In addition, it must be remembered that this road element serves not only to limit the movement of vehicles, but also to protect the tiles, and also prevents gravel and sand from getting onto a nearby lawn. Therefore, a road curb of good quality acts as a delimiter between the sidewalk and the roadway, which means it is a guarantee of convenience and safety.

road borders
Modern manufacturers make a high-quality road border and the latest technologies. The most popular technology is vibrocompression, since this process can provide an optimal ratio of cost and performance, such as aesthetics and durability. You can also change the color of the mixture by adding the necessary coloring pigments.

The curb is laid using special equipment, but besides this, crushed stone, concrete and sand are required. Only after laying these auxiliary materials can you start laying out the tiles, and hence to the paving stone. It is the quality of the performance of these manipulations in the future will affect the durability.

The need to use the road curb while paving the sidewalk has been proven by many examples. The functional load of this road element also includes the removal of water, both melt and rain, from the gaps between the tiles. Therefore, it is strongly advised to use such a surface finish.

border
A document has been issued at the Institute for the Construction of Prefabricated Coatings of Urban Roads since 1996, which uses the universal phrase “side stone”. However, it implies all the same border. The name "curb" is also common among the people.

On the curbs, which in themselves are a kind of road marking, color marking can also be applied in accordance with GOST on the "Side surfaces of curbs and its top."

road border

Borders can indicate not only the border between the roadway and the sidewalk, but also the so-called “safety islands” or “guiding islands.” The safety islands must be at least 10 cm high and be flush with the main surface of the sidewalk. However, in modern construction it is allowed to lay a border below this value to give the city streets an aesthetic appearance.
