Lanyard weaving - interesting and beautiful

Since ancient times, people were engaged in needlework. Weaved, knitted, sewed, cut, burned and planed. Some did this with purely practical intentions, for example, to have something to eat from or what to wear. And some were engaged in needlework for the sake of their pleasure and love for this occupation. Lanyard weaving is no exception. They were created so that you could carry a knife on your hand (or as a modern keyring) so that the gun would not be lost.

There are lanyards made of paracord, leather, laces, harnesses, rope and much more. The lanyard will become a useful accessory. With it, you can quickly pull out the knife in any situation. Braiding the laces around the knife cover, you can be sure that it will not fall out of it. For this, skin is best suited to which the knife will fit snugly and will not slip.

Lanyard weaving is not a particularly sophisticated, but very interesting activity. There are many different weaving techniques, among which you will definitely find what you like. Such an accessory can be made for yourself or presented to a friend along with a good knife. It can also be used as a keychain for flash drives, flashlights and much more.

So, weaving the lanyard is carried out in two stages, and the first of them is the choice of material. The material itself is selected, focusing on what exactly the lanyard will serve: a cover or a keychain. The second stage is the weaving of the lanyard itself.

Now you will learn how to weave a simple, but rather original lanyard, which even a novice can do. The weave is called the "Snake." Take material, for example, a paracord, of two colors (let it be blue and white). The length of the paracord cord should be about 80-100 cm. Pull some core (s) from one bundle. Now thread another bundle into the one from which a few threads were pulled. So that the material does not fall out one from the other, cauterize the junction with fire, press and smooth it. Thus, the melted synthetics stick together. Now you have formed one tourniquet.

Lay one end of the tourniquet on the other and wrap it around the loop formed. In the same way, wrap the other end of the tourniquet to form two loops, tighten them to make a knot. Now the end of one thread is passed through the loop of the other and tightened. After this, it is necessary to turn the product over and repeat the same with the end of the thread of a different color (and tighten). In the end, you should get a lanyard about 15 cm long. This is the whole principle of weaving a lanyard with the β€œSnake” pattern.

Now the workpiece can be attached to a carabiner or keychain (or just tie it on some object that you wanted to decorate (a knife, a flashlight)). Weaving of lanyards is not limited to one pattern, there are several hundred of them, and you can add a knot to each technique yourself, thereby improving the lanyard and making it unique. Weaving looks quite original, which goes from one to another. So, having mastered the basics of weaving on light patterns, do not stop there. Perhaps very soon you will be able to surprise and please your friends and relatives with wonderful handicrafts made by yourself.
