There are several options for sledding for children of the same age or toddlers, between which only 1-2 years of difference. All twins are equipped with two seats, a convenient pusher handle, some with castors to move the snowman on non-slip surfaces, warm liners and foot covers. In this article we will analyze the most popular models, their advantages and disadvantages, indicate their features and what weight they are designed for, and also find out what else you should pay attention to when buying winter vehicles for children.

It is impossible to imagine winter fun without sledding. Children can tirelessly climb again and again to the steepest slope in order to famously fly off it, experiencing a lot of pleasure and sincere, genuine happiness. And even the kids, who barely learned to walk, are happy to change the bored carriage to a sled. This transport opens up new horizons for them and allows you to look at the world from a different angle. And of course, to drive a sled in the snow is much more convenient than a stroller.
Even the most maneuverable, she will not be able to cope with the porridge under her feet, snowdrifts and ice. Even more difficulties during walks arise in parents of twins or children with a small age difference. A walk for them turns into a real test, because a large-sized stroller does not have a good cross. Sleds for twins are a good solution for parents who do not want to sit at home with their children all winter. They come in different types and modifications, and now we will understand their main differences, and also find out how old such snowmobiles are.
Wheelchair Sled
Several manufacturers, including ABC, Kristy and Rich Toys, delighted their parents with excellent sled models designed for two children. This is a special winter transport, which in its functionality is not inferior to a traditional wheelchair. The principle of the device of all models is identical, each of them is equipped with such elements:
- soft seats with high side sides and autonomous adjustable backs;
- deep visors from quality raincoat fabric;
- insulated foot covers;
- seat belts;
- bag for mom, clutch for hands.
The twin sled carriages are complemented by wheels, which allow you to easily cross the road and other sections of the road where there is no snow. Such snowmobiles are quite compact; when folded, they fit even in the trunk of a car.
Shoulder to shoulder
The traditional twin sled is a model with places nearby. In them, the children sit side by side, which is their advantage, because the kids will not argue about who will sit in front and who is behind. In addition, both children are always in sight of the mother. Such sleds are made of wood ("Blizzard") or metal ("SKD-1/2"). The first model is designed for preschool children, the maximum load that they can withstand is 40 kg. The second sled is more durable, they are made of molded pipes, have a removable backrest, two autonomous footboards and a solid seat made of wooden planks, easily accommodating three children. You can carry them by the lace or with the help of a pusher, which is installed both behind the seats and in front of them, which makes the snow scooter as maneuverable as possible.
Sled train
Twinsled sleds are the most affordable and common model in stores.
They are of two types:
- With seats located "face to face".
- With places where children sit one after another.
In both cases, the twins sleds have separate seats and backs, which can be removed if necessary. In models where the children sit opposite each other, the footboard is one for two, and in the “train”, where the seats are fixed one after the other, individual stands for each “passenger” are provided.
The most popular models of such sleds are “Fortress”, “Fairy”, “VEL-2D” and “Crew”. These are sledges of domestic production, they are made of metal pipes painted with weather-resistant paint. The latter model has a difference and an advantage over the others - the sled backs are not only removable, but also fold compactly, so they take up less space during storage. Otherwise, they are identical - pusher handles are removable, they can be installed both in the direction of transport and against it. One seat of such snow scooters can withstand a weight of up to 25 kg, and therefore even elementary school students can ride them.
Long sleigh sled
Children sledges for twins come with a solid wooden seat. They are distinguished by an elongated size, so that not one child is placed on them, but two or three babies. These sledges are quite easy to manage, they are maneuverable and pass even in deep snow. Since the seats are located at a sufficient height from the runners, the likelihood that children will get snow from the road during the ride is reduced.
The model of the Polish manufacturer Tako is widely represented on the market. On these sleds you can install individual seats with low backs, which are equipped with soft liners on a sheepskin. They are designed for a total weight of up to 50 kg and are suitable not only for twins or twins, but also for children of different ages. You need to carry such sledges by the lace. The Ukrainian-made Fijo Twins sledges are more versatile - the seats can be installed in both directions, the pusher handle is attached both front and rear. The covers are made of durable leatherette, for the comfort of the child foam is inserted in them, and on the back they are supplemented with pockets in which various little things are easily placed.
Models of sledges with wheels
No matter how convenient the sled is, sometimes it is quite difficult to deal with them, because there is a chance to get to a section of the road where there is no snow. It’s hard to carry sledges along the asphalt with one child, to say nothing of the bulky design for twins or weather. Knowing that all parents are faced with such difficulties, manufacturers often supplement their products with rollers. This can be a double sled with retractable wheels located under the seats, or models in which the wheels are attached behind the runners, on their elevated part. The first option is preferable, since the rollers on the skids often impede the course of the sled, because the snow is striking and braking about it. For the same reason, twin sledges with wheels are more suitable for very young children who are not yet rolling downhill.
Snow scooters for older children
Double sledges are needed not only for kids, but also for older children. The only thing they prefer is plastic models, suitable for riding from the hills. Their modification allows two children to sit on a snow scooter, one of whom controls the sled, holding on to the lace, and the other sits behind, on a small elevation.
