During his reign in Temeria, King Foltest repeatedly found himself at the sight of his ill-wishers. They plotted against him and organized assassination several times. All this made him think about a personal bodyguard. And he found such a person, he became Vernon Rocher - a reliable and loyal soldier, ready for absolutely any abomination for the sake of his king.
early years
There is nothing much to be said about Vernon Roche's childhood and youth. But, according to the stories of his girlfriend Bianchi, some information is still available. From an early age, he grew up in poverty, living in a brothel with his mother, who worked as a prostitute to feed her son.
He had never seen his father and somehow did not worry about this. He was more worried that because of this guy his peers were constantly teasing, calling him a “bastard” (this word still causes an attack of rage in him). All these events made Vernon understand that he should not expect gifts from fate, so he decided to create his own destiny. And he began by joining the Temer army.
Military service
He took the service seriously. Still, the spy was infinitely glad of this opportunity, and always believed that otherwise his life would have ended long ago in some ditch. During the service, he had to do many things for his native kingdom. For example, he helped pacify the foothills of Macaham, and also participated in the capture of the Pontar Valley. During the war with Nilfgard, Vernon was engaged in the elimination of elven gangs engaged in robbery in the forests of Temeria. It was then that he attracted the attention of King Foltest.
The ruler of Temeria decided that such a soldier would be more useful in other, more important missions that others could not handle. And after a short time, Vernon was determined to command a special Temer squad - “Blue Stripes”. This detachment was created by King Foltest, but each member was personally chosen by Roche. They included: notorious thugs, professional spies, experienced warriors and scouts. And they were really reliable people, ready to take on any errands.
He also had secret agents under his command, thanks to which he uncovered many conspiracies against the king. He was twice awarded the Order of Courage. And later, Vernon Rocher became the right hand of Voltest and one of the most influential people in Temeria.
Character Experience and Principles
It should be noted that Rocher achieved success in his affairs primarily due to his training. He is an excellent fighter, a good fencer, possesses the skills of shooting from a crossbow, and with daggers in good relations. He is also strong, hardy and possesses the vein of a leader.
He constantly tries to achieve his goal, because, in his opinion, it always justifies the means. Moreover, for this he is ready to go for anything. Nevertheless, he is fair, therefore, it is not in his rules to cut, burn and rob without any reason. He is simply a patriot of his homeland and is ready to serve her unquestioningly.
Enemy number 1
Throughout his career, Rocher used to achieve everything he wanted. Possessing huge human and material resources, he could easily track and destroy any target, in any corner of the earth. He failed only to meet Yorvet, a cruel and merciless elf.
He was never able to catch Vernon Rocher. Yorvet is the number one enemy for him. Both characters are found in the computer game "The Witcher", where Geralt will have to choose whose side to take.
Vernon Rocher - The Witcher 2
In the prologue, Geralt ends up in jail, and Roche conducts his interrogation. In the process, he can become for the Witcher, both an ally and an enemy.
The game begins with an attempt by the army of King Foltest to besiege the castle of La Valetta. They penetrate, but are attacked by a dragon. The sorceress Triss Merigold saves everyone, who stops the debris falling from the tower destroyed by the dragon, and itself is teleported.
In the quest “To the Sanctuary”, the dragon again attacks the heroes. Now he destroys the bridge, thereby separating the detachment. Vernon Roche remains in one half, and the Witcher with Foltest on the other side of the bridge. Geralt, avoiding the flame of a dragon, takes the king to cover. How Roche rescues is unknown, but he succeeds.
In the first chapter, Roche leaves with his detachment in Flotzam - a trading settlement on the border of Temeria. There his first unpleasant meeting with Yorvette takes place, but he does not succeed in catching the elf. Ultimately, the Witcher will have to support one of them. But in any case, Roche will appear in the second chapter.
The next time, the Witcher, along with Roche, set off to rescue King Caedwen, Henselt. Only this is not enough, because the monarch has a curse, and Geralt decides to find out who is behind this.
An investigation leads him to Roche. It turns out that all this was conceived a very long time ago on behalf of King Foltest. Meanwhile, Henselt himself had guessed everything, so he found and interrupted the entire detachment of the Blue Stripes. And when the heroes find him, the player will again have to choose whether to dissuade Rocher from killing or let him do it.
The third chapter also did not do without Roche. He and Geralt arrive at Loch Muinn, a town on the headwaters of Pontar to meet King Radovid. From him they learn that Triss Merigold is captured by the Nilfgaards, and Anais is the daughter of Foltest, in the hands of the magician Detmold of Ban Arda.
The king of Redanya will offer the heroes to save Anais, and then transfer the girl to him. In this case, he will save Temeria, take Roche to his service, and the Witcher will help to catch the killers of kings. Such conditions are suitable for Rocher, because in order to take revenge on the magician, he is ready for anything. But Geralt will doubt he wants to save Triss. Therefore, you have to choose.
Vernon Rocher - The Witcher 3
In Wild Hunt, Vernon will appear in Nilfgaard, where a Temer guerrilla unit will be waiting for him. There he will meet Geralt again and, no matter what choice the Witcher will take in the second part, Vernon Roche will be glad to see him. He will tell that since then he has been working for Radovit, but he does not like this union too much.
He also tells that Bianca got out of control and attacked the imperial soldiers. He asks for help to free her, and then go to his camp. But Geralt, he can also be useful.
Vernon Rocher will also tell about the deal concluded with Nilfgaard, as a result of which Temeria will join the empire in exchange for the head of Radovit. The Witcher can also help here. And again, a choice remains to be made.
