Citrus fruits have long ceased to be exotic for us. Lemons, oranges, tangerines can be easily bought in the market or in the nearest supermarket. But it’s much more interesting to grow a real lemon tree and drink a seagull with your own fruits.

To begin with, it is worth noting that this frequent guest on our table did not come from anywhere, but from hot and humid subtropics. However, he reliably settled down in winter gardens, halls and living rooms and has long been grown from ordinary bone. Therefore, of course, the question immediately arises: "How to care for lemon at home so that it bears fruit?" The answer is: "For these purposes, it is better to buy a tree in the store, already grafted." Or to be vaccinated yourself, which is not so simple. Plus, know which variety should be bred. Large and fleshy fruits grow primarily on trees of two
varieties of lemons: Ponderosa and Meyer. If we consider the work of Russian breeders, then attention should be paid to Pavlodar lemon. All three types of trees have been cultivated and feel good in tubs and flowerpots. In height, they are stretched under favorable growth conditions up to one and a half meters, are quite spreading. Therefore, knowing
how to care for a lemon at home, experienced flower growers in a young plant must pinch new shoots. Why is this needed: when the upper kidney is removed, and 2-3 leaves remain on the branch, a compact circular crown is formed. This is important if the tree grows in a small area. In addition, the plant has more juices and nutrients that it can spend on earlier and more abundant flowering. So pinching is an important and useful tool for lemon growing.
Conditions of detention

- In total, the advice comes down to the following: you need a lot of light, the room should be ventilated, stagnation of water should not be allowed in flowerpots (i.e., good drainage should be provided in the soil) and regularly fed with the necessary fertilizers. This applies to the active period of tree growth. In winter, the basic principle of how to care for a lemon at home is to rearrange it in a cool place so that the plant rests well. In the summer it would be nice to take the flowerpot out onto the balcony or even outside, under a canopy. Heat is useless to him, but moderate heat and diffused (for young landings, adults and direct rays are well tolerated) sunlight is excellent. In winter, the room temperature should not be lower than +10. It is important to remember that lemon prefers high humidity. The tree at home (how to care for it, take note) should be sprayed several times a day with boiled or filtered, standing water (room temperature, not from the tap), watered daily, but without puddles around the trunk. Observe this regime from early May until mid-September. Then cut back.
- Select soil in a flowerpot of neutral acidity, consisting of ordinary garden soil with deciduous humus, turf, river sand, charcoal additives. It has already been said that the lemon plant does not tolerate waterlogging. How to care in order to avoid trouble: lay a drainage layer of pieces of brick on the bottom of the pot, and make the top of the sand (river). During the period of intensive growth, feed the tree with complex fertilizers 2 times a month.
- Lemon begins to bloom in the spring. The plant self-pollinates, and the fruits ripen for a long time: from 6 to 12 months. But under good conditions, flowering occurs 3 times a year.
