Large-flowered forms are best known for use in vertical gardening. Small-flowered plants are not so demanding on growing conditions and can be easily propagated by seeds.

Curling along various supports (trellises, fungi, pyramids, etc.), clematis create the effect of a flowering carpet, a falling bright garland, a colorful “pillow”, a colorful arch raised above the lawn. They can close a facade, a terrace, a handrail, a fence with a bright beautiful spot.

Most often, clematis, the cultivation and care of which is quite simple, is located in the east, west or south, but now shade-tolerant varieties have appeared for the north side. For example, “President”, “Hope”, “Dawn”, “Victoria” and others. Clematis varieties (photo below) “Blue Flame” is very popular among gardeners because of their color. Such a color is rare in nature.

In the south, clematis is planted in the fall (September, October), to the north - in the spring (April, May). By the second - third year, the desired decorative effect is created.

The landing site is chosen bright - the liana should receive at least six hours of lighting. But it’s better to know in advance more about the selected variety, as some, for example, “Nelly Moser”, can fade on a sunny day. They do not like clematis of wind and stagnant dampness. Therefore, they need to be planted on a hill. It can be a natural mound or a loose earthen rampart. Clematis needs loose soil with a slightly alkaline, slightly acidic or neutral reaction. The planting pit is made 70 X 70 X 70 cm in size, seasoned with humus or compost, a liter can of ash or 150 g of slaked lime is added (with excess soil acidity). You can make a drain - pour pebbles or small stones at the bottom of the landing pit, and then plant clematis in the pit.

Cultivation and care begins with planting material. This is a rooted stem or one, two year old grafted plant. When planting, the roots neatly straighten, carefully sprinkled with soil. Then the soil around the handle needs to be well compacted and watered abundantly, you can use a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Clematis can be deepened no more than 5 cm.

Clematis, the cultivation and care of which requires the presence of support, will grow and develop, taking into account the characteristics of the variety and flowering area. The support can be a pole, a net rolled up by a cylinder, a tree or a bush (look good with roses).

In spring, clematis is fed with mineral fertilizers (azophos, nitrophos). To prolong the flowering period, at this time, no fertilizing is given. After clematis fades, you need to add phosphorus and potassium to the trunk circle. During the entire growing season you need to clear the soil of weeds. It is better to use mulching materials for this (last year's sawdust).

These plants can tolerate severe frosts only under shelter from spruce branches, peat, etc. They cover them where shelter and roses are required. In this case, the clematis is not afraid of frost and up to -40 degrees.
