Others are looking for a replacement for their children's toys - and start “pocket” dogs, which can only psychologically support the owner (which, in fact, he needs). However, among the abundance of a dog tribe, there are such representatives who do not fit into any of these categories. They are self-sufficient, they are full of consciousness of their significance and can not be either toys or tools to reduce complexes. And among these dogs, the very first is the royal dog.
Origin and destination
Actually, as everyone knows, "dog" in translation from English is a dog. That is, if you think logically, there are no dogs other than dogs. Quite a royal approach. But among those breeds that bear this proud name, there is an aristocratic hierarchy. And the royal dog among them is the coolest and most important.
According to the main version, this breed originates from Molossian dogs, which were bred back in ancient Rome. According to some reports, then they were used to track and persecute runaway slaves. In the dark Middle Ages, the ancestors of the present dogs excitedly hunted wild boars, they bullied the bulls, and they also acted as bodyguards.
Times have changed. Together with them the character of these dogs and their modern name changed. Great Dane is now better known as German.
Noble ancestors
Molossoid breeds are not the only ones to be noted during the formation of the breed. In the very beginning, there were Asian dog fighters. And if you are scrupulous, you can find information that, in those days, the general branch was divided into two side branches. One was flocking, was released on a large animal in persecution, did not differ in large sizes and did not differ much from other hunting dogs. Another branch, uniting much more massive individuals, was used mainly in protection. From this line the Great Dane breed went. To develop the necessary qualities, the initial branch was crossed with greyhounds - the fastest dogs in the world, so that the bodyguard acquired the characteristics inherent in a greyhound.
The success of cohabitation is in education
In the modern world, the dog royal dog (aka German) acquired all the qualities necessary for the current survival, but did not lose those thanks to which it gained its historical position. The main thing in this breed is the ability to get along with almost any normal person. But! If you want to be not a maintenance staff, but at least an equal participant in the relationship - be able to prove it to the dog.
To begin with, the royal dog is a proud animal, so you should beat and scold it only in those cases when it is really to blame. Otherwise, the dog may consider you an unjust (read - abnormal) owner and will continue to ignore it as incapable. The reproachful tone and trust will act more, even when the puppy is naughty. In this case, remember: if you give slack, and the dog does not recognize you - you will not wait for a comfortable existence, there will be a constant quiet war for the championship.
Educational rules
Like any other breed of dog, the royal dog has its own characteristics in education. The generally accepted rule is not to beat the animal with your hand - if you, of course, want it to love you and not be afraid, not understanding your actions. Hands should remain a symbol of peace, affection and comfort. If you punish with your palm, you run the risk of having a sick dog bite you when you want to calm her down.
Under the same general prohibition, punishment remains in place of the animal. If it has already hidden on its bedding, then it means that it has realized everything. A "house" should be even a dog.
It is necessary to slap - well, your dog is guilty, it happens - do it hard, but once. To beat is the lot of executioners. Your anger or grief will work much stronger.
And most importantly: the upbringing starts from the moment a puppy appears in your house. Let him still be foolish - he will check regularly for “weakness”. If you want to have an intelligent creature in your house instead of a home gangster - educate!
Character to be considered
Great help in education is provided by the character of the German (royal) mastiff. First of all, he is patient. Even if the dog doesn’t understand something (for example, why one shouldn’t bite the owner’s slippers), she will wait and try to understand why it is forbidden. The same quality is very useful if the family has children. Their royal dog will endure for a very long time - and without tragic consequences. However, this dog is stubborn and rather masterful. So if your views on some everyday features of coexistence do not coincide, you will have to look for a compromise. Agree, the "king" has the right to his opinion.
And how healthy are these animals?
Although the royal dog lives not so long (however, like the rest of the large dogs), it is notable for quite good health. If the puppy does not have hip dysplasia (these are usually rejected, but suddenly you come across an unscrupulous breeder), then the dog will not bring any childhood diseases with you. It happens that these dogs get puffed, but here you just need to monitor the diet. Glaucoma, which sometimes happens, is usually also associated with malnutrition. With age, dogs can get a variety of diseases of the musculoskeletal system; a little more often than other breeds, stall; but in general - completely unproblematic animals.
