Finishing the interior walls of the room is always a very sensitive issue that almost everyone faces when repairing. The choice of materials for carrying out such work is great. And everyone has its advantages and, unfortunately, disadvantages. One of the mentioned building materials is moisture-resistant GVL, which finds its application not only in interior decoration, but even in outdoor decoration.
What it is?
By such a concept as “moisture-resistant GVL”, we mean finishing sheet material. It is made by pressing gypsum and loose cellulose fibers. The front and back sides of each sheet are treated with a water repellent, sanded and coated with a special impregnation that prevents chalking. The last layer protects the coating from destruction caused by the loss of connection of fillers and pigments with a binder component.
GVL sheets are produced in a rectangular shape. Their longitudinal edges can be straight or seam. The standard size of one sheet is 2500 mm by 1200 mm. However, there are other sizes, it all depends on the manufacturer. Most often, it is 1500 mm by 600 mm. The sheet thickness can be 10, 12.5, 15, 18 and 20 mm.
Material Features
Moisture-resistant on GVL is higher than on GKL (drywall). This is due to a number of operational characteristics that distinguish it from similar finishing materials. Consider the main advantages:
1. Moisture resistance. Processing sheets with water repellent allows you to ensure that sheet finishing material well tolerates high humidity. Due to this property, GVL moisture resistant is used in the decoration of bathrooms and similar rooms.
2. Fire resistance. The sheet material in question is made of gypsum, which in itself is a non-combustible substance. All sheets after production undergo mandatory certification, according to the results of which they are affixed with a fire safety class. Usually it is T1, D1, B1, G1, which corresponds to practically non-combustible materials that do not support independent combustion and the release of toxic substances. Due to these properties, they are used in the arrangement of premises where high fire safety requirements are imposed.
3. Frost resistance. This material tolerates freezing / thawing well. It is able to withstand 15 such cycles without loss of quality.
4. High strength. The density of the sheets is 1250 kg / m 3 . Their flexural strength is 5.5 MPa, which is almost two times more than that of GCR.
5. The homogeneity of the composition.
6. High soundproofing. According to this parameter, the GVL moisture-resistant has an indicator equal to 35 dB, while the GCR is only 25 dB.
How much is?
The cost of wall decoration with gypsum fiber sheets includes the price for the material and the price for the work on its arrangement. As for the cost of installation, it is formed from such components as arranging the frame and attaching the material to it. For this work, firms take about 250 rubles per 1 m
2 . This is the minimum price, payment may increase depending on the type of work performed and the complexity of the design. At the same time, the price of the material from these same firms will be 270 rubles per square meter. If we take into account that the moisture-proof price for a

format with a thickness of 10 mm on a GVL varies within 500 rubles, then you might think that firms require too high a fee. But this is not entirely true, because the cost of the material also includes a metal profile, without which it is indispensable.
