Structure

RG-213 is a radio frequency cable with twisted cores and braid. Moreover, the latter is made only of copper. Its structure is a multicore conductor around which an insulating screen is located.

The cable consists of the following parts:

  • Outer sheath made of polyvinyl chloride.
  • A protective shield, which is a braid made of tinned copper wire.
  • A dielectric is a foamed polyethylene that has a low density.
  • The conductor is made of soft annealed electrolytic copper. It consists of a large number of veins intertwined.

The outer diameter of the cable is 10.3 mm. The outer sheath on which the cable is coated has a thickness of 1.1 millimeters. Almost 98% of it is covered with a protective shield with a layer thickness of 0.18 mm. The insulator located inside is 7.24 millimeters in diameter. The conductor consists of 7 interconnected cores, each of which in diameter reaches 0.75 millimeters.

Application area

As already mentioned, the RG-213 cable is high frequency. This means that it is used to transmit signals with a high frequency. It can be used at various temperature conditions, both indoors and outdoors. Due to its characteristics, the cable can transmit a signal over long distances without losing it and significant changes.

A cable is suitable for transmitting high-frequency signals in electronic devices (computers, television transmitters, radio receivers, transmitters, and so on). It can also be used to transmit radio signals in video surveillance systems, communication systems.

In addition, the cable is suitable for use as delay lines, in various types of transformers, pulse filters and shapers, matching devices.

The cable is transported in two types of coils. In the first case, the cable length in it is 100 meters. The coil has an outer diameter of 36.5 centimeters. Its height is 10 centimeters. The total weight of the cable in the coil reaches 12 kilograms. The weight of the second type coil is 35 kilograms. The RG-213 cable in this case has a length of 305 meters. The outer diameter of the coil is 35.5 centimeters. Its height is 35 centimeters. In both cases, the cable is pulled together with cellophane and packed in a box.
