Why put a house-wide electricity meter?

Electricity meter
A common house electricity meter allows you to save your finances allocated for such public needs as lighting stairwells, ventilation and booster pumps, operation of elevator systems, outdoor lighting, as well as energy loss compensation. Individual control systems are already ubiquitous, but common-house meters still cause distrust among the population.

A similar electricity meter is placed on the supply line at the entrance to the house. Therefore, it measures the total amount of electricity consumed. This value includes common house and apartment consumption. The first is determined by the section of the line from the moment you enter the house to the entrance to a specific apartment. The second indicator takes into account the needs of this apartment. This method allows you to more accurately calculate the need for electricity in the population.

Electricity meter

The common house electricity meter considers the amount of energy consumed per month, there are two ways to pay for the expense: the first includes the use of standards, the second uses only meter data. We will consider each of them with specific examples.

For example, an individual metering device for electricity has already been installed in your apartment, in this case, when installing a common house meter, you will only pay a part that is proportional to the energy consumption that your apartment used for this period. Thus, the more energy you use, the more impressive your electricity bill will look. If your apartment does not have its own metering devices, then the payment will be calculated by the house management according to the standards that take into account the meter of the apartment (in square meters), as well as the number of citizens registered on this area.

House-wide electricity meter
For example, in a three-room apartment, an ordinary family of three lives. In this case, they will pay about three times more than their neighbors, the same amount living in a one-room apartment. At the same time, both those and others will equally use the common house electric energy.

As can be seen from the examples, the electricity meter, both house and apartment, allows you to more accurately take into account the needs of the population, and therefore, more effectively approach the problems of electricity production and distribution. However, common house meters can save not only the natural resources used in power plants. They allow you to save money. This can be done in several ways, for example, replacing light sources with energy-saving lamps in outdoor lighting fixtures, installing motion sensors, conducting timely repairs and putting protection against spontaneous connections to the home electrical network.

It should be noted that the common house electricity meter has one significant drawback: if some tenant refuses to pay his expenses, the rest of the neighbors will have to do this. The cost of services in equal shares is distributed among all residents.
