The origin and meaning of the word
According to dictionaries, "gyaur" is the contemptuous name of everyone who does not profess the Muslim faith. Without a contemptuous connotation, it would have sounded like “kafir” (or “kafir”). Linguists did not come to a consensus on this word: some believe that it comes from the Turkish “gâvur”, others consider it simply a spoiled version of the concept of “kafir”.

Despite the fact that they do not recognize Allah, the Quran directly prohibits the faithful Muslims from persecuting them and encroaching on their life, health and property. However, the radical currents of Islam refute this, relying on some fatwas that proclaim the people of Scripture as the worst infidels - they know the truth, but reject it.

How does giauram live?
If you rely solely on the Qur'an as the main holy book of Muslims, you can perfectly live in a Muslim state without accepting Islam. A Muslim may have family and business relationships with people of the Scripture; men may marry women from this category. But a true Muslim woman has no right to marry a giaur, this is considered a serious apostasy. This is easily explained by patriarchal logic. If the husband is a Muslim, then he will surely save his wife from the punishment of Allah, will be able to convey her to the bosom of true faith. But the infidel spouse will surely push the unfortunate Muslim woman off the path of truth, because a woman must obey a man.
Nevertheless, there are people who are ready to live in peace with the rules established in Muslim society. Many have to move to Muslim countries due to work and other reasons. Of course, in the case of the radicalization of society, this threatens with obvious problems, but moderate Muslims who are rational and balanced about their faith, usually with benevolent patience towards Gentiles, provided that they do not try to offend their faith. For their part, Muslims are respectful of the convergence of the Holy Fire in Jerusalem and suppress any attempted disturbances during this holiday, venerating Christ as one of the prophets of Allah.
