The trouble is that he is English-speaking, which means that it is difficult to find the simplest information on Day Z in Russian: how to establish where to get files and how to play. This article will discuss the basic steps for installing the mod and their detailed explanations.
Firstly, it will not be amiss to make sure that you have the latest version of the game containing all the released DLCs. Without downloadable content, Arma 2 will only be suitable for single player play in a standard campaign. If you still want to save money (albeit to the detriment of the quality of the textures), then install at least Operation Arrowhead - with it, albeit not on all servers, you can enter Day Z. The game must be licensed, otherwise why do you need to install Day Z ? Steam is the only means of comfortable playing on the network in this modification, so you have to lay out your hard-earned money.
You should download the modification only from the official website of the game (it is easy to find through search engines) in order to avoid problems with viruses and spyware. So, download Day Z. How to install and unzip the archive into a separate folder, you should already know, otherwise you will have big problems with this mod. For those who have forgotten, we remind you: you should place the downloaded archive in a separate folder, right-click on it, then select "extract to this folder". Next, install the game, if you have not downloaded it from Steam.
When the game is installed, and the mod is unpacked, proceed to the installation. Go to the folder where you have the game installed - there we should create a new folder with the same name: @DayZ. But the installation of Day Z will be done in another folder under the name addons, which you must also create yourself inside the previous one. Carefully type the names of folders to avoid problems and loss of time (for example, pay attention to the presence of the “@” symbol in the name of one of them).
After creating the folders, in the last of them (addons) we transfer all the files from the downloaded Day Z modification. How to install the modification so that the game sees it? Everything is simple here: the mod files should be transferred to addons without a root folder. In other words, make sure that there is not a single extra letter in the address bar (at the top of the Windows window) on the path from the above folder to the modification files. For example, on the path "@DayZ \ addons \ mod \ mod files" the game simply does not find the mod files, it should be replaced with "addons \ mod files".
For the steam version of the game you have to create the path to the mod yourself: first find the steam folder (it should be in Program Files). Next, go through the folders in this order: steamapps> common> arma 2. The last of them is the root folder of the game, where you should create the mod directories, as described above. It is important to remember that you should run steam on behalf of the administrator, otherwise the game will not be able to correctly identify the created folders, which will lead to various errors and crashes to the desktop.
