Prospect of Glory: whether new construction plans hinder tourists

Currently, construction and repair of roads, bridges and tunnels is actively ongoing in St. Petersburg. Already, a huge number of objects are being developed, and even more tenders have been announced. Construction recently affected the Glory Avenue, located in one of the strategic areas of the city.

The coordination of activities related to construction, reconstruction and overhaul, as well as attracting investment is the responsibility of the Construction Committee. The Committee is authorized to carry out regional state control over compliance with requirements within its competence.

Despite the positive trend and great benefits for the city, definitely, the ongoing work negatively affects the convenience and comfort of the movement of tourists coming to St. Petersburg from around the world. So, for example, for some time the Glory Avenue was blocked. I would like to mention this separately and consider this issue in more detail. This avenue is one of the most important highways of St. Petersburg. The avenue, passing through the Frunze district of the city, is intended for movement in the direction "west-east". The highway connects the Nevsky district with the Moscow.

Prospect of Glory St. Petersburg

The Prospect of Glory got its name on January 16, 1964 by the decision of the Leningrad City Executive Committee in honor of the civil and military victories of the Soviet people. The main thoroughfare, which gave rise to Glory Avenue, was laid in 1960. Then, the avenue began to be built up with public buildings and residential buildings.

In connection with the construction of elevated pedestrian crossings in April of this year, Glory Avenue was closed to traffic at night. This restriction lasted for several days. On April 6 and from April 11 to April 14, traffic on the section from Belgrade to Budapest Street was blocked, and on April 7 and from April 15 to 18, traffic was closed in the opposite direction. In connection with

the ongoing work made it difficult to access one of the houses on the avenue located at 52 Slavy Avenue. At the same time, Slavy Avenue was accessible for daytime traffic. No wonder, because no normal tourist would want to sleep to the rhythm of a slaughter hammer and walk during some kind of land work with digging pipes, plates and everything else that is underground.

The second striking example of how the construction of roads in the city hinders tourists is the work carried out on the western high-speed diameter. Unfortunately, tourist accommodation in the coastal region will be significantly overshadowed by the almost round-the-clock noise accompanying the construction site.

But the authorities of St. Petersburg still hope that the ongoing activities related to the repair and construction will in no way reduce the flow of tourists in 2013. Moreover, the guests of the city this season, in addition to sightseeing and walking along the famous streets, are waiting for a number of bright and significant events.

So, having visited St. Petersburg this summer, you can, for example, attend the annual Scarlet Sails graduates festival, which has been held for several years now or from June 2 to 20 to visit the international music festival โ€œPalaces of St. Petersburgโ€.

Of course, the tendencies to ennoble the second capital cannot but rejoice. Faced with temporary inconveniences, tourists, as well as residents of St. Petersburg, need to remember that the transformed city becomes even more attractive and comfortable. After all, the inconvenience associated with temporary blocking of the street has already been forgotten, and Slava Avenue has acquired a new elevated pedestrian crossing, which undoubtedly made the life of Petersburgers and visitors a bit safer.
