The world-famous book “The Wizard of the Emerald City” and all the parts in order following the main one were read by everyone: from small to large, several times reading and reading books to holes, because the stories were really exciting and interesting unusual for those times the plot of Volkov’s books.
Summary of “The Wizard of the Emerald City”
This is the story of the girl Ellie and her dog Toto, by a strange coincidence or really thanks to the witching forces that fell into the Magic Land.
In the process of trying to return home, she gets acquainted with three creatures: one from straw, the other from iron and the third - this is a normal-looking lion, but speaking a human language, however, like all the other inhabitants of a fabulous place. The author of “The Wizard of the Emerald City” described the experiences of friends in such a colorful and detailed way that the children of the whole world sincerely worried about them and wrote emotional letters to Alexander Volkov.
Book Two: “Oorfene Deuce and His Wooden Soldiers”
A student of the evil sorceress and a joiner concurrently became the owner of a powerful powder that turns any object into a living creature. Thanks to his ability to work with wood, he creates an entire army, usurping power in the world of fabulous little men.
Resourceful friends find a way to warn Ellie, who goes to help with her uncle and frees the country from the oppression of Oorfene Deuce, who was expelled with shame.
“Seven Underground Kings” - prequel to “The Wizard of the Emerald City”
The content of Volkov led to the time of the founding of the fabulous country, how it was divided into sectors and due to what circumstances the country of miners emerged. The life of the seven kings in one kingdom is described, and the reader will also learn the history of the origin of the sacred Sleeping Source. It was not without Ellie: again, quite by accident, she enters the world of miners with her cousin and again helps local residents to achieve justice.
The Fire God of the Marrans - the fourth part of the story
In the fourth part, Urfin Djus comes to the fore again, for years accumulating hatred and a desire to take revenge, as well as to enslave the inhabitants of a fabulous country again. He manages to subjugate the Marran tribe, which were one of the most primitive tribes in the Fairyland. He gradually begins to seize territory and again becomes a usurper. In parallel with these events in Kansas, the grown-up sister Ally and her friend, having heard stories about the wonderful world, go on a visit and arrive on time. After a series of adventures, they save the inhabitants from oppression and happily return home.
Book Five: The Yellow Fog
In this part, Oorfene Jus appears in a completely new guise: he was reborn as if and stood on the bright side in the fight against the ancient sorceress who wants to turn the inhabitants of the Fairyland into her slaves and sends them to attack.
The whole country rebels against the sorceress, they also call Annie with Uncle Charlie, who again should help friends. New adventures, a lot of interesting twists and turns make the reader delighted.
The Mystery of the Abandoned Castle: The Final Part
Here, the author departed from the idea of all parts of the “Wizard of the Emerald City”: all sorceresses and sorceresses, peoples were mentioned in order. Now Volkov decided to include an alien race in the plot, because the year of writing (1975) just corresponded to various fantasies on the topic of space.
Taught by bitter experience, residents immediately send messengers to Annie, who asks for help from Freddy and Tim. In the battle with alien creatures all the inhabitants of the Magic Land are connected, and good, as usual, triumphs.

Of course, it is unlikely that it will be possible to list and mention interesting residents of all parts of The Wizard of Emerald City in order, but the most important are:
- Ellie - the main character of the first part, a girl from the world of people, originally from Kansas.
- Toto, aka Toto, is Ellie’s dog.
- Scarecrow - a fabulous little man made of straw, later the ruler of the Emerald City.
- Cowardly Lion, later nicknamed the Bold.
- Iron Lumberjack - a man made of iron has the property of rusting under the influence of water.
- Oorfene Jus is a carpenter, a student of the witch Gingham, who twice tried to usurp the Magic Land.
- Gingham is an evil sorceress living in the Blue Country. She was accidentally killed by Ellie's house.
- Bastinda is an evil sorceress, afraid of water under pain of death, the ruler of the Violet country.
- Dean Gyor - a soldier with a very long beard, guarding the entrance to the Emerald Palace.
- Kaggi-Kar is a crow that can speak human language, a close friend of Scarecrow.
- Great Goodwin is the ruler of the Emerald City before Scarecrow, a man who randomly became a "powerful wizard."
- Faramant is a close friend of Dean Gyor, the keeper of green glasses.
The “Wizard of the Emerald City” and all subsequent books of this remarkable series were written by Alexander Melentievich Volkov, a Russian writer who worked as a teacher and principal of the school in Yaroslavl and studied at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, who graduated at the age of forty. He had a great craving for learning languages, which served as the basis for writing the first book “The Wizard of the Emerald City”. Volkova was attracted by the story “The Amazing Wizard of Oz”: he took it in his native English as translation exercises, the recordings of which he eventually corrected and published as a separate novel.
The book was so popular that I had to write the following parts of The Wizard of Oz, telling in order about all the inhabitants of this fabulous area: chewers and their battle with wooden soldiers, the gloomy joiner Djusa and his repeated attempts to enslave the whole of the Magic Land, about the girl Ellie, her relatives and friends who, by the will of fate, came to this country.
The main idea, going through the main thread through all the parts in the order of “The Wizard of the Emerald City” and subsequent books, touches on the most important spiritual values, which are held in high esteem not only in the world of people, but also among fairy-tale characters and even animals: fidelity in friendship, a sense of compassion to the neighbor, justice and honor.
