What is the main thing in the image of Thor? His famous hammer. We’ll start with him.
Hammer making
The main problem with most materials suitable for making a hammer is their weight. The child will probably get tired of carrying a massive thing, for example, of wood. There will be no such problems with our hammer, because it is practically weightless.
To make the main attribute of the Thor costume, we need:
- Floral sponge.
- Cut plastic pipe.
- Newspapers.
- Glue.
- Tape for wrapping the handle.
- Silver paint in a spray can.
- Masking tape.
Step-by-step instruction:
- We cut the floral sponge from the sides, giving it the shape of a hammer.
- Since the sponge itself is very soft, wrinkles and crumbles easily, the structure must be strengthened. In the papier-mâché technique, we glue the sponge into pieces of newspapers in several layers and leave it to dry completely.
- We make a hole, insert a piece of pipe into it. We fix using masking tape.
- From a thick cardboard we cut out a circle and glue it from the side opposite to the handle.
- Paint the hammer with silver paint.
- Wrap the handle with tape. At the end, for convenience, we make a loop.
- Our super lightweight but formidable-looking hammer is ready.
We are preparing a Torah costume for children, but the hammer will look quite adult.
Thor's Helmet
The next important element is the helmet.
To make it we need:
- Cardboard.
- Glue.
- Metallic color paint
The process of making a helmet for Thor's costume:
- For a helmet, cardboard from packing cereals or any other box is suitable. Cut 7 elements in shape, as in the photo:
- Fold the elements in a circle so that the edges of one figure slightly overlap another. We glue.
- Glue the strip of cardboard on the bottom and the cone on top.
- Cut 2 wings and also glue to the helmet.
- We paint with spray paint.
Another piece of Thor's costume is ready.
It remains to make a bib. With it, your child will definitely be successful at any matinee.
Thor's Chestpiece
We will need:
- Black felt.
- Metallic paint in different shades.
- Glue gun or fabric glue.
We prepare the bib as follows:
- We cut out elements from felt, being guided by the scheme below. Naturally, the picture can be both complicated and simplified.
- We paint elements in different shades of metallic color of your choice.
- We lay out on the basis of black felt and glue it.
- We sew ribbons for fastening the bib on the child from above and from the sides. It should turn out, as in the photo below.
It remains to add a red cloak so that the costume is completely ready.
