Mohair - universal yarn from which you can knit a warm winter thing, and a light, almost transparent product for spring-autumn. For this reason, this type of yarn is very popular among needlewomen. Sweaters, knitted from mohair, will always be relevant regardless of the season and fashion trends. They can be worn with comfortable jeans, dress pants and skirts. It all depends on the style chosen for the knitted sweater.
Lightweight sweater for every day
What should be the thing for every day? First of all, comfortable. But this is not enough to feel attractive even on weekdays. A cream mohair sweater is perfect for a casual look. It can be supplemented with a lace top in dark tones underneath and trousers to match. This outfit is suitable for meeting with friends and evening walks.
What is required?
To knit this sweater you need quite a bit:
- from 6 to 9 skeins of mohair yarn (25 g - 210 m);
- knitting needles No. 6;
- circular knitting needles No. 6 and 5, length 40 and 80 cm.
It should immediately be noted that knitting is performed by a double thread. To determine the desired number of loops in size, a sample is usually knitted. In this case, if its size is 10 by 10 cm, then 14 loops and 20 rows should fit. Knowing this, it is easy to determine the number of loops to set. For the rest, it’s necessary to try on the details as you knit. For clarity, the description shows all calculations for size M.
Knitting parts
Type 72 stitches on the knitting needles. Next, knit with an ordinary elastic band 1x1 (alternating the front and back loops) 7 rows. Moreover, the first and last row are the purl loops. Continue knitting with the front surface and add 1 loop on each side. When the back length is 6 cm, add evenly 1 loop 4 times (this is somewhere every 5 cm). As a result, 80 loops should remain on the knitting needles. Next, knit the back without any additions or additions, until its length is 23 cm. In the same way, knit both parts in front and until put aside.
Now you can proceed to the sleeves. Dial 30 loops, then knit 7 rows with an elastic band, like the back and front of a sweater. Further, the part is knitted with front stitch with the addition of one loop on each side. At a distance of 6 cm from the beginning, an increase in 1 loop should be started, 2 times in a row. It should be done 10 times every 2 cm. When there are 58 loops on the knitting needles, postpone the work. The second sleeve also fits in the same way.
Assembly
To get a beautiful jacket made of mohair, you need to properly assemble all the details. This will require circular knitting needles No. 6. Collect on them all the details in the following order: back, sleeve, front and back sleeve. Knit one row with facial loops, and at the junction you need to knit 2 loops together. This is done in order to connect the parts together. In total, 256 loops should be obtained.
In order not to lose the joints, they must be marked with a pin or thread of a different color. The connection between the back and the right sleeve is taken as the beginning. Then knit the fabric with front stitch on circular knitting needles. On the raglan line, a pattern is made on 3 loops:
- in 1 row make 1 yarn, remove 2 loops, 1 liter. p., stretch it through the removed loops and another 1 yarn;
- in the second row to knit all the facial.
Along with knitting a raglan, you should reduce the number of loops in the details. To do this, remove 2 loops before the pattern, then knit the front and stretch it through the removed loop. After the pattern, simply knit 2 loops together. Thus, it should be reduced in every 4 rows 4 times and in every 2 rows 2 times. As a result, 108 loops will remain on the knitting needles. This is not yet finished jacket from mohair.
Knit another 1 row, reducing the number of loops to 104. Then continue with 1x1 elastic - another 5 rows. To sort out the loops on circular knitting needles No. 5 and knit an elastic band for another 7-8 cm. Close the loops. Stitch sleeves and side seams at the end. This completes the jacket of mohair, the description of which only seems complicated. Even a beginner needlewoman will cope with the task.
Original openwork bolero
However, a mohair jacket does not have to resemble a sweater or pullover. It may well be an openwork bolero that will warm you on a cool summer evening. Such a stylish little thing will help to create an image in the fusion style that modern stylists like. Those who are not ready for experiments can wear it with a classic turtleneck and a pencil skirt. The image is no worse.
What is required?
In order to make this bolero, you will need:
- 3 skeins of wool (50 g - 175 m);
- 3 skeins of mohair (25 g - 200 m);
- knitting needles No. 5;
- circular knitting needles No. 5 (40 cm).
The density of knitting is such that 17 liters. n. on 22 rows is a square of 10 by 10 cm. This information is useful for calculating the desired size. In the description, for convenience, the size S / M is taken. In the diagram you can see how many loops you need to add for other options.
In addition to the main picture (it is shown in the diagram), 2 more patterns are used:
- Shawl: only front loops in all rows.
- Pearl pattern: in the 1st row alternation of the front and back loops, in the 2nd row over the front loops to sew the back and vice versa.
How to knit?
On ordinary knitting needles, dial 109 loops. You need to take 2 threads of each type of yarn. Knit 3 cm pearl pattern. Then continue knitting using patterns A1 and A2. This is done in the following sequence: 2 edging with a pearl pattern, 17 times knitting an A1 pattern, 1 time with A2, and again 2 edging with a pearl pattern. Knit in this way 3 rapports.
Separate the next part with 4 rows of garter stitch. Add 10 loops on each side in the second row, so that in the end there are 129. You can now start knitting the second pattern. To do this, knit the 2 hem edges with a pearl pattern, then, according to the A3 pattern for 5 loops, knit the A4 pattern 19 times, also according to the A5 pattern for 6 loops and 2 hem the pearl pattern. Make only 1 repetition.
The following scheme of a mohair sweater with knitting needles is separated by 4 rows of garter stitch and 2 rows of front smooth. Next, you need to continue according to Figure A6 as follows: 2 edge pearl patterns, 2 front loops (on the reverse side), knit 10 times according to the A6 pattern, 2 more front loops (reverse side on the back) and again 2 edge pearl patterns. Knit 3 rapports.
Here you need to again separate the picture with 2 rows of front surface and 4 rows of garter stitch. Now it only remains to repeat the already known drawings in reverse order. Using patterns A3, A4, A5, knit the next part this way: 2 hem with a pearl pattern, according to figure A3 for 5 loops, 19 times pattern A4, pattern A5 for 6 loops and 2 hem with a pearl pattern. There should be 2 such rapports.
Now it remains to make the last section of 4 rows of garter stitch, where in the second row you need to remove 10 loops. There will only be 109 of them. Then repeat the patterns according to schemes A2 and A1. That is, you need to knit 2 edge loops with a pearl pattern, 17 times, pattern A1, A2 into 3 loops and again 2 edge loops with a pearl pattern. Make 3 rapports.
In the end, it remains only to knit 3 cm with pearl viscous. Close the loop. Then sew together the sleeves and side seams. On this original jacket made of mohair with knitting needles is ready.
