Preparatory stage

The most common and easiest way to knit socks involves the use of five knitting needles. This method is called circular. Do not forget that the number of loops drawn on knitting needles must be a multiple of four. To accurately determine the number of loops required, take measurements. To do this, measure the volume of the legs at the ankles. For example, you get a value of 20 cm. You need to multiply it by 3, and you get the number of loops. In our case, it will be equal to 60. Based on this example, we continue to consider the sequence of knitting socks.

So, we collect 60 loops on the needles. We distribute them into four knitting needles, each 15, and we knit the elastic of the future sock. Gum options can be different, choose the one that you like best. Its height can also be different, in our case - 2-3 cm, after which we proceed to knitting with the front surface. For the standard version, it is enough to knit 5 cm.

How to knit socks
"How to knit socks?" - the question itself is not difficult. The most difficult step is kicking the heel. What will we do now.

We form the heel of the toe

To do this, all the loops located on the fourth and third knitting needles are translated into one. The remaining knitting needles are not involved in heel formation. We knit the loops translated onto one knitting needle with the front stitch until we reach the desired heel height. The number of rows required for this is determined as follows. Since we initially had 15 rows on one spoke, we need to continue knitting until 15 edge loops are formed. This means that for heel height we need to knit 30 rows. Please note that this stage must end necessarily with the front row.

Now we will make reductions inside the knitted fabric to form a heel. To do this, you need to divide all the loops on the spoke into three. If your number of loops does not divide without a remainder, then it is added to the middle part. In our example, 30 divided into three - in each part 10 loops will turn out. Reduction is performed as follows. Starting from the wrong side, knit the first 10 loops, then the middle part, except for the last (in our case, the tenth). This loop and the first of the last 10 loops must be knitted together on the wrong side. After that, we expand the work and knit in the opposite direction, leaving 9 loops of the last part untied. We knit the middle part and knit its last loop together with the first next part. And again we are expanding the work. We continue in this way until 15 loops of the middle part remain on the spoke. This stage ends with a facial row.

The final stage of knitting a sock

So we come to the final part of the workshop "How to knit socks".

Now we need to use new knitting needles with loops located on it from the middle to create new loops. Do this from the front side of the sock along the edge loops (15). Next, with a working knitting needle, 15 loops of the first needle and the second should be knitted. After that, the heel loops (15) are again gathered with the released spoke. With the same knit, seven heel loops (half) are knitted. Now we have four knitting needles in our work again. Note that there are more loops on the third and fourth than on the first two. We will need these extra loops to form the leg lift.

Again we continue knitting in a circle, while performing the reduction of excess loops. Reduction is repeated every two rows until the moment when your knitting needles will again have an equal number of loops, in our case it is 15. Next, we continue circular knitting without reduction, until we reach the end of the little finger.

The final stage

Now again we perform the reductions in every second row, until there are 7 loops on each spoke. After we continue to decrease, but already in each row. When two loops are left on the knitting needles, they are tightened with a needle and thread, preferably harder. Using the hook, the remaining thread must be hidden inside the sock.

That's all. Now it’s no secret for you how to knit socks.
