Author
Eugene Permyak is a Soviet writer whose work was influenced by Bazhov's stories. In the postwar years, he often turned to children's literature. The heroes of his works are the right Soviet children and adolescents.
In the works of Permyak there are instructive motives. However, the creator of the story “Pichugin Bridge” is known not only for its bright and kind stories, aimed at young readers. Eugene Permyak is one of the so-called witnesses in the case of Ivan Pribludny. Based on his testimony in 1937, the poet (one of Yesenin's friends) was shot.
So, what is the story “Pichugin Bridge” about?
Summary
The main character is Sema Pichugin. The boy is humble, laconic. The story begins with a description of the conversation between the friends of Sema. On the way to school, the guys dream of a feat. One is dreaming of a fire, because during such an event you can save a child and become famous. The other boy’s dreams are simpler: catch a pike. Sema, it would seem, does not dream of anything. But the dangerous river, covered with thin ice, does not give him peace.
Last year, on the way to school, one of the boys living next door to Sema nearly drowned. The fact is that the path through the river is the shortest. Parents strictly forbid the children to walk this dangerous road. But guys often break this ban.
Vetla
Without thinking twice, Sema goes to the river, capturing his father’s ax. A good bridge may come out of the old wind. Pichugin begins to cut the tree. Labor is not easy. It’s not easy to chop a thick trunk. On the first day, Sema is unable to cope with the task that he himself set himself. But the boy does not give up.
The hero of the story Permyak leaves for the river the next day. In the morning he diligently hits the tree with an ax, and finally it falls.
Bridge
It was difficult to move on a collapsed wind. But the zeal and perseverance of the village hero knew no bounds. The boy cleared the trunk of the branches. And when even after these actions it was not easy to cross the bridge, he decided to attach a small railing. But here the boy alone could not cope. Grandfather helped him master the railing.
A good bridge turned out. From now on, the guys and other villagers walked only along this road. And when the unknowing traveler set off on the old and long road, he was certainly advised to go through the Pichugin Bridge. It so happened that they nicknamed him in honor of Sema.
Years passed. In place of the old makeshift bridge, a new one was built of good logs. However, like the former, it was called the Pichugin Bridge. And even when a highway was built across the river, the feat of Sema was not forgotten. Residents of the surrounding villages continued to call the big cast-iron bridge with real railings in honor of the boy who, many years ago, chopped down an old wind, so that his villagers could easily cross the river.
In the story of Yevgeny Permyak, modesty and the desire to do good deeds are not praised, not for the sake of fame, but for the good of the cause.
