The Frozen cartoon broke all Disney records and won the hearts of girls of all ages and everywhere. Therefore, Elsa’s costume (“Frozen”) is widely replicated both on an industrial level and by needlewomen. We will tell you about beautiful and uncomplicated children's costumes in this article.
Disney heroine outfits
To get started, let's decide what the Elsa costume (Frozen) looks like. It should be noted that she has three main outfits:
- children's with a short skirt and Norwegian patterns (looks good on little girls);
- the coronation dress is luxurious, a little heavy and closed, with rich embroidery, complemented by a crown, gloves and a huge wrap;
- outfit of the snow lady - it is found most often, so let's look at it in more detail.
Analysis of the decoration of the sorceress into components
What does Elsa's costume (Frozen) look like in the cartoon? A photo of the outfit is presented below.
Its elements are:
- A thin translucent shirt revealing shoulders.
- Blue corset with a heart-shaped neckline.
- A skirt in a figure, with a slight extension down and a slit. Children's Elsa costume often suggests a more magnificent version of it.
- Air cape. Please note that it does not cover the shoulders, but actually begins under the armpits from the corset.
- Shoes Elsa has elegant shoes made of transparent blue ice with a small heel. Such a form can often be found among "adult" female models and decorate it with blue paint, sparkles, etc. And for little girls, silicone ballet flats can be an interesting alternative - they are transparent, with sparkles, ornate patterns and at the same time inexpensive.
How to make an Elsa costume for a girl
An outfit for a little sorceress can be made even if you do not have sewing skills and you have a limited budget.
To create this costume you will need:
- white t-shirt with a long sleeve;
- blue shirt;
- white leggings (preferred);
- white organza - 2 m;
- shiny ribbon 6 cm wide of transparent white, blue, turquoise color - each 1 coil (9 m);
- wide elastic - 1 m;
- sequins, rhinestones, fabric dyes;
- scissors, needles.
Elsa's costume ("Frozen") almost without sewing is done like this:
- Cut off the elastic according to the waist circumference of the girl, sew the ends together. We measure how long the skirt should be in order to achieve the desired effect. We cut the shiny ribbons into strips twice as long as the resulting measurement, adding 5 cm. Fold the cuts in half and use a simple loop to fasten them on an elastic band. Alternate different colors until the skirt acquires the desired volume.
- We decorate the white tulle: print snowflakes on the printer, cut them out, put them under the fabric of the cape and redraw. Then they need to be either painted with paints, or put patterns on them with rhinestones, or greased with glue and sprinkled with sparkles.
- Sew the tulle to the back of the shirt, slightly picking up. If desired, a T-shirt can also be decorated with rhinestones or snowflakes.
- We turn to the assembly of the costume: we put on a T-shirt and leggings, on top of them - a blue T-shirt and skirt. And the snow sorceress is ready!
Without sewing: other options
And here are a couple of similar costumes:
- Summer As you can see in the photo, only the T-shirt is used here, and the cape is mounted directly on the shoulders.
- With a corset. And then they cost one white T-shirt, just drew a cut line on the fabric and painted the bottom blue, adding glitter and sequins along the way.
Elsa's costume for the New Year
When not to become a beloved heroine, if not for a festive matinee? But for such a suit it is better to work hard and remember the basics of cutting and sewing.
Here is an original idea for a little girl (3 years). In fact, this is not a full-fledged dress, but a decorated apron. If you put it on a simple white turtleneck, you get a neat holiday outfit. Well, then the baby can put it on any clothes, instantly turning into Elsa. In addition, this is an outfit outfit; a child will be able to use it for a couple of years, unlike a full-fledged dress.
For work you will need:
- a children's apron (it can be sewn independently, by the standards of a girl);
- satin fabric - 0.5 m;
- fabric with sequins - 0.5 m;
- blue organza - 2 m;
- snowflake buttons - 8 pieces;
- silver tape - 0.5 m;
- silver ribbon with a lace pattern - 0.5 m.
Performance:
- We will try to bring the shape of the top of the apron closer to the outlines of the Elsa corset, so we will make a pattern with a pointed end. On it we cut identical parts from blue satin and fabric with sequins and chip them together.
- We work with a skirt. Pick organza the way you like with sewing needles.
- We assemble the product. Sew on a skirt, then double top. The bottom of the “corset” is better not to connect with the skirt, so that it does not hamper the movement. Trim the edges with a silver ribbon, additionally decorate the neck with a lace strip.
- Sew snowflakes and the outfit is ready.
Simple and budget
And now we’ll show you how to make an Elsa costume (Frozen) with minimal costs (both temporary and material) for older children. By this principle, you can create beautiful outfits for girls from 3 to 11 years. The quantity of materials is indicated for a five year old child.
You will need:
- a white long-sleeved T-shirt that sits well on the child (not tight, but not loose);
- shiny blue fabric for the bodice - 0.7 m;
- shiny transparent organza - 1-1.5 m (depending on the height of the child);
- blue satin fabric for a skirt - 1 m;
- elastic band narrow (1 cm) and wide (5 cm) - 1 m each;
- snowflakes, rhinestones;
- sewing supplies.
Costume making process
- Lay out the T-shirt and measure the blue fabric for the bodice in two layers so that it completely covers the front and 2 cm comes into the back. Fold it with its face inward and make a side seam.
- Measure the thin elastic according to the chest circumference of the T-shirt. In a bodice of blue fabric, make a drawstring along the top a little more than 1 cm wide. Thread an elastic band into it, sew the ends together.
- Now measure your child: from the shoulder blades to the floor. This is the length of the cape. Its width in this product is 1.1 m. Measure the appropriate section of fabric. If it pours, then you need to process the edges. Pick up the cloak so that it is the size of the back.
- Baste the bodice of blue fabric to the T-shirt, on the back, simultaneously lay the top of the cape. Sew while stretching the elastic slightly.
- We pass to the skirt. Determine its length by measuring the child from the waist to the floor. Since our skirt is voluminous, its width will have to be slightly larger (55 cm). Cut out two parts, sew together, do not forget to process the bottom edge.
- Measure a wide elastic band around the waist of the child. Stitch the skirt to her, creating pleats.
- Sew the top and bottom of the dress.
- Sew snowflakes, rhinestones and other decorative elements as desired.
And consider another Elsa costume (Cold Heart). The photo looks very impressive. But if you look closely, you will understand that this outfit is made on the same principle as the previous one. If you manage to pick up such a beautiful fabric with sequins for the bodice and with snowflakes for the cape, the result of the work will be impressive.
Tips for needlewomen
Do not forget that you are creating not just a craft, but a piece of children's clothing. Therefore, it should be comfortable, and the materials should not cause skin irritation. In Elsa's purchased dresses, this is a common problem. Therefore, a white long-sleeved T-shirt as the basis is not only an attempt to simplify the work, but also a great way to ensure the comfort of the child. After all, if the costume begins to prick and rub, the pleasure of the holiday will be spoiled. In addition, a long sleeve will better warm the child.
A long train is beautiful, but a child can get confused in it. Keep this in mind, especially if you are making Elsa’s New Year’s costume - it would not happen that the girl and other children stumble over the cloak during round dances around the Christmas tree.
