An open world in computer games is often an inadmissible luxury that only rare developers can offer gamers. It would seem that the specifics of a shooter mixed with a racing simulator are unlikely to allow the creators to give the player access to the whole city - but with GTA, this is exactly what happened, and from the very first episode that came out almost twenty years ago. More recently, the fifth part of the series saw the light, so it’s worth remembering all the parts of the GTA in order.
Two-dimensional world: "GTA 1" and "GTA 2"

Back in 1997, a game with the rather strange name Grand Theft Auto was released. It is with her that you need to start listing all parts of the GTA in order. In this game there was a top view, you were asked to control a hero who can collect weapons on the street, kill passers-by, thereby attracting the attention of policemen. Skirmishes could also be arranged with the servants of the law, but the most interesting thing was that you can steal any car that you see in front of you. It was possible to get all types of transport - a garbage truck, an ambulance, a fire truck and even a train. And most importantly - you did not need to adhere to the storyline - you could do whatever you wanted - to arrange races, shootings, blow up everything around and so on. Such a project caused considerable stir, which entailed the release of two additions that added two new cities for research, and with them new cars, weapons, pedestrians, bandits and so on. Naturally, the developers did not stop at this stage - in 1999, the second part was released, which received an improved engine, better graphics, as well as a much wider variety of actions. Three gangs with unique storylines were added - each of them needed to gain respect in order to get support and access to tasks, but this completely cut off your connection with the warring gang. If we consider all the parts of the GTA in order, then this ends the two-dimensional generation. All other games were released in 3D.
GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas

All parts of the "GTA" in order can be divided into two generations - two-dimensional and three-dimensional, as well as blocks, which will include the main game and additions to it. For example, in 2001 a real revolution was made - the GTA series went into 3D, now you are in control of your character from a third-person perspective. Naturally, the whole world has also been redesigned, but the concept has remained the same - you can complete the storyline tasks, or you can have fun in free mode using a huge arsenal of weapons and an even wider fleet of cars and other vehicles, among which there are helicopters. In 2002, the first expansion to the third episode was released, Vice City, and in 2004 San Andreas. Both additions received new cities, new characters and new storylines. Naturally, much more was changed, so each of the add-ons managed to break the sales record of his predecessor. In principle, this is a property that all parts possess in GTA. The list in order, however, is not too long. The path of quality, not quantity, was chosen.
GTA 4, The Lost and the Doomed, and The Ballad of Gay Tony

If you want to study all the parts in GTA, the list in order will help you with this - you will learn from it that after San Andreas, released in 2004, quite a lot of time has passed - the fourth episode appeared on sale only in 2008 but the wait was worth it. After all, the game began to look even more impressive, the engine became even more perfect - let alone variety. The city has become much larger, weapons have become even more numerous, as well as vehicles. New features have appeared, such as your own phone to communicate with other characters and a relationship system. In 2009, two additions were released to the fourth episode, which further expanded the storyline campaign, which the original two games did not particularly shine on. And that’s practically all the parts of the GTA in order. The photo from the fifth episode was not available for quite some time, many doubted that it would be released at all, but it still happened.
GTA 5 and GTA Online
The developers spent another four years developing the next part of the game, and in 2013, users saw the long-awaited GTA 5 masterpiece that offered them incredible opportunities - along with GTA Online, a version for the multiplayer game that now plays several hundred at a time thousand people. This is where all the GTA parts end - the list is not so long, but incredibly rich.
