In order to find out who the commoners are, you need to open Ozhegov’s dictionary or visit one of the youngest museums in St. Petersburg. But in short: this is the name of people who did not belong either to the merchant, to the noble, or to any other social stratum. "Diverse St. Petersburg" is the name of the museum, which is described in today's article.
History
The museum was opened in the 2000s. But he has a background. The first exhibition in the building where the Museum of the St. Petersburg Versailles Museum is located today appeared in the thirties of the last century. However, its subject was somewhat different. This exhibition had nothing to do with raznoshchintsy and other social phenomena of pre-revolutionary Russia.
The fact is that in the house at 7 Bolshoy Kazachiy Lane, in 1894, a noble son, a young lawyer Vladimir Ulyanov, lived for three months. What he did here is not known for certain. Most likely, he studied the works of Marx.
Forty years after Ulyanov left Bolshaya Kazachy lane and went either to Moscow or Finland, a branch of the central Lenin Museum was opened in the house where he lived quite a bit.
In the nineties of the last century, there were very few visitors. And in 2003, with the support of the mayors, they opened the "Diverse St. Petersburg", which anyone can visit today.
A bit about the raznoshintsy
Among the famous literary heroes there are young people endowed with this strange title. For example, the idealist killer Raskolnikov from the book of Dostoevsky. Or the unfortunate nihilist from the Turgenev novel.
Raznochintsy lived far from Nevsky Prospekt, that is, in areas remote from the center, as a rule, in small, modest apartments. You can learn about how life went on in this part of the capital from the aforementioned book by Dostoevsky. These were areas where mostly poor people lived. By the way, there are excursions to St. Petersburg, allowing you to learn a lot of interesting things about "non-parade" Petersburg. They include a visit to the old alleys, narrow streets.
The exhibits, which are presented in the museum, allow you to get acquainted with the history of the Northern capital. But not all exhibitions are devoted to diversity as a social phenomenon. The immortal spirit of Vladimir Ilyich is still floating here. And among the exhibitions there are also those that are devoted to events from Soviet history. "Diverse St. Petersburg" is rather the sonorous name of the museum, which presents various exhibits. But all of them are united by the indescribable flavor of the city on the Neva.
Around Semenovskiy parade ground
This is the name of one of the permanent exhibition of the museum "St. Petersburg of the same market". She talks about the history of the city, but not about the luxurious, palace, but about the "non-parade". In the area of the Semenovsky parade ground, the first paramedic school was once founded. In 1893, the first football match was held here. Famous poets, writers, including Dostoevsky, the author of the novel, once lived in this part, after reading which you can understand who the commoners are.
Agte family siege room
The memorial museum "Diverse St. Petersburg" is not dedicated to a certain period in the history of the city. There is an exposition that tells about the most tragic events that have ever happened in the Northern capital. Namely, about the blockade of Leningrad.
In 2003, Galina Agte handed over to the museum things that were preserved from her relatives who survived the blockade. Thanks to this, it was possible to recreate the atmosphere of everyday life of Leningrad residents of the forties.
Ulyanov Memorial Room
From February to April 1894, Lenin occupied apartment No. 13 in this house. This is a small room with two windows. Today, thanks to the efforts of the museum staff, the 1984 decor was created here. In 2007, another exhibition was opened, dedicated to the life of the first head of the socialist state. It is called Ulyanov. Choosing the Way.
In addition to the permanent exhibits described above, temporary exhibits periodically appear in the museum "Diversified Petersburg". So, in 2018, they opened in the following exhibition:
- Old Petersburg.
- Museum flowers.
- Let's go back to old Petersburg.
- Day after day.
- Images of St. Petersburg.
Museum flowers
This name is rather unexpected in the context of "St. Petersburg of the same market". The exhibition opened in June 2018. The exhibition includes various household items decorated with floral patterns.
About a hundred years ago, such ornaments came into fashion. Among the exhibits are porcelain products of the 19th century, once owned by residents of St. Petersburg.
Day after day
The exposition is a variety of print media. They allow visitors to find out what Petersburgers lived at the beginning of the 20th century.
In those years, the World Nova magazine was very popular. It was an illustrated magazine that was published in impressive print runs. Humorous poems on topical topics, caricatures of famous personalities - all this appeared on the pages of the publication, which is part of the Day by Day exhibition.
Let's go back to old Petersburg
What is known to ordinary people today about pre-revolutionary Petersburg? Very little. You can learn about what life was like in the Northern capital from black-and-white photographs, which are far from being preserved in every Petersburg family. Guests of the city on the Neva who want to learn more about its history should buy a tour of St. Petersburg or visit the exhibition, which opened in February 2018.
Here are collected drawings, looking at which, visitors get an idea of the life and customs of the inhabitants of old Petersburg. But the authors of these works are not professional painters, but talented young artists from the Yellow Snail school-studio. Based on old photos, they created a collection of illustrations on the theme of pre-revolutionary St. Petersburg.
The museum is open on weekdays. Ticket price - 150 rubles. For students and seniors discounts apply. The price of the excursion ticket is 250 rubles.
