Often, fashion is so democratic that even at high fashion shows you can see a simple style of a free cut, which is easily suitable as a model of clothes for overweight women. Very often, the most fashionable dresses turn out to be the prototype of a tunic known since ancient times. This form of clothing was widespread in ancient Greece and Rome. The tunic pattern for full and thin women of that time was a kind of bag with slots for the arms and head. Tunics were worn by men and women, women’s differed only in patterns and ornaments.
Tunic - practical and comfortable clothes
Only women's tunics have survived to this day , and this is really a very practical and convenient form of clothing. A similar thing can be worn as a hoodie or, putting on an elegant belt, turn it into an interesting dress, it can be worn with leggings and jeans, or as a beach dress. The main pattern of the tunic for full and slender girls differs only in width, but depending on the imagination of the needlewoman, such a thing can easily become a highlight of the wardrobe. These simple, baggy-shaped clothes take on a silhouette thanks to a belt that can be tied both at the waist and under the chest. And the main pattern can be flared, made with a short sleeve or without them at all, and, of course, change the length, making it either a short blouse or an elegant dress.
How is the foundation built
A tunic pattern for full ladies, as well as for thin ones, is designed very easily. This requires measurements of the chest, hips and arms. We measure the coverage of the chest and hips and add 10 cm to the larger size for seams and free fitting. Next, measure the upper part of the arm, the sleeve should be free: for a standard figure that does not differ in full arms, a width of 25 cm will be enough, but if the arms are full, the width should be increased and add about 10 cm to the arm volume.
A tunic pattern for full women is being built directly on the fabric, which is folded in half, and marks are made on it:
- The first mark is the width of the canvas or half of the first measurement with an increase. If the hips are 100 cm + an increase of 10 cm, a value of 55 cm is obtained, this segment must be located in the middle of the fold of the canvas.
- The second mark is the length of the product, measure the length we need, add a couple of centimeters to the bottom of the product, and mark this value on the fabric.
- The third mark is the height of the armhole. We mark 25 cm or the resulting value from the fold of the fabric down from the point of width of the canvas.
- The fourth mark is the width of the neck, which can be round, V-shaped, square or in the shape of a boat.
The final stage of pattern construction is the design of the sleeve line. They are made out with a smooth cut, passing from the line of width of the web through the point of height of the armhole and to the edge of the fabric. At this stage, you can flare the sleeve and the bottom of the tunic or completely remove the sleeve, due to which a simple sundress pattern for full ones will come out , which can later be picked up with an elastic band under the chest, and add a few frills along the bottom.
The construction of such a pattern is so simple that it is not just a beginner who can cope with it, but also a person who has never taken up sewing at all. And adding interesting decor to the finished product, you will get a stylish and elegant thing.
