By default, the developers set the English subtitle language in Fallout 4. Since the voice acting of the game is in the same language, it is inconvenient for Russian-speaking gamers to go through the story due to obscure dialogs and screensavers. You need to enable subtitles in Fallout 4 and activate them in Russian.
Inclusion in settings
First you need to start the game and open the main menu section with the settings. In it, go to the bottom of the window to the line "Subtitles dialogs". At this point, switch the toggle switch to the "On" position. To enable subtitles for any phrases in the game, enable the bottom option.
Now you need to check the operability of the text. In some cases, this option may not work, then you will have to manually activate the subtitles through the files. Let’s figure out how to do it.
File inclusion
First you need to find the My Games folder, which is located in the directory with the Windows documents. In this directory, find the folder with the name of the game and open it. All progress saving files are stored here, as well as configuration files with graphics, control and so on settings. We need a file called Fallout4Prefs.ini. To access the editing, you need to run it through any text editor. For this purpose, even the standard Notepad is suitable.
In the open file, find the line bDialogueSubtitles = 0. This can be done using the built-in match-finding function, which opens with Ctrl + F. In this line, change 1 to 0. The same thing needs to be done with the line bGeneralSubtitles = 0. After that save the changes and close the file.
It remains to verify the correctness of the actions performed. Close the game folder and launch Fallout 4. Then load the save and start any dialogue. You can also launch a new game so that a screensaver with a voiceover appears.
