Biography
For the first time, the superhero nicknamed "Wasp" debuts in a comic strip called Tales to Astonish No. 44. Janet was the daughter of a wealthy and successful scientist named Vernon van Dyne. However, during one of the experiments, father Janet was killed by a terrible alien monster. The girl was crushed by the death of a loved one, but there was no time for grief. The monster was still free. Janet turns to Hank Pym, who was a partner of Vernon. As it turned out, Hank Pim developed unique particles with which he can resize his body. Pim uses these particles on Janet. As a result, the girl gains incredible abilities.
By joining forces, Hank Pym and Janet defeat the monster, sending him to his native dimension. After that, the superhero duo does not stop its activity. Pim and Janet continue to fight together with evil (Ant-Man and the Wasp). Soon they join the Avengers superhero team and, together with Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk, fight Loki.
Further events
For several years, Janet has been involved in The Avengers and will soon become their leader. As for her relationship with Hank, then everything is pretty complicated and ambiguous. One day, a yellow jacket attacked the Avengers Tower, which claimed to have killed Hank Pym (this is about the Marvel comics). Osa, in turn, said that she intends to marry him, which caused outrage from other members of the team. However, as it turned out later, under the guise of a yellow jacket, Hank Pim was hiding. He had an accident, as a result of which he developed schizophrenia. Janet knew about this.
Later, the relationship between Wasp and Ant-Man intensifies even more. Hank received another disorder of reason, as a result of which he became paranoid. As a result of such metamorphoses, Pym became very rude. Once, in a fit of rage, Pim hit Janet. After that, the couple divorced. However, after a few years, Pima's situation improved. Therefore, Janet renewed her romantic relationship with Hank.
Mass Events
Wasp living in the Marvel comics quite often participates in global events and, as a rule, plays a significant role there. For example, during the Secret Invasion, Janet, along with the other Avengers, repelled the Skrull attack. She also took the new serum that Hank Pim gave her. But, as it turned out later, it was one of the Skrull shifters. After the defeat of Queen Veranke, the false Pim presses a button that causes Janet to increase in size uncontrollably. This leads to the fact that the heroine of Marvel, the Wasp, turns into a real biological bomb. In order to save the Earth, Thor makes a difficult decision. He kills Janet, thus saving her from suffering.
Hank Pym, in turn, is hard on the death of his wife. In order to somehow alleviate the pain of loss, he puts on the cloak of his dead wife and for some time works under the pseudonym "Wasp".
Forces and abilities
Perhaps the main ability of Janet is to resize. The girl from the Marvel universe, the Wasp, is capable of both decreasing and increasing the size of her body. This power is given by a special substance called “Pima Particles”, which was developed by her husband. For a long time, Janet could use her powers only under the influence of this substance. However, due to frequent use, her body structure has changed, and due to this, the Wasp can change body size at will, without any auxiliary means.
Also, do not forget about the implanted wings, thanks to which the Wasp can fly at a speed of 40 miles per hour. However, she can use her wings only when her height does not exceed 4 inches.
Another ability is the so-called Wasp Sting. Janet can generate special energy impulses that even concrete can pierce. Initially, Janet wore a special device that created energy for the pulse. But later, due to the effects of Pim particles, she got the opportunity to create energy explosions on her own.
Marvel: Wasp in Ultimate
In the Ultimate universe, the image of Janet was radically changed: she is a mutant. Her abilities are the ability to decrease and the ability to create an organic sting. However, the flip side of the coin is the laying off of larvae, as a real wasp does. Among other things, the authors decided to change the nationality of the character. So, in “Ultimate”, Janet is an Asian. However, there were unchanged moments. For example, Janet is also married to Hank Pym. In addition, she is a member of Ultimate (the local counterpart to Avengers).
