Cyril's birthday is celebrated more than once in a year. The day of an angel in people with that name happens in almost every 12 months, and also several times. This is due to the fact that all Orthodox believers in the Lord and Savior use two calendars at once - Julian (old) and Gregorian (the one that is used everywhere now).
The Julian calendar was used in Russia until 1918 and the day when the Bolsheviks, overthrowing the old government and rejecting the church, introduced a new Gregorian calendar. Nowadays, the difference in dates for these two calendars is 13 days. Thus, the name day of Cyril according to the Orthodox calendar in accordance with the new system of calculating time is marked:

- February 8, 17 and 27;
- March 22 and 31;
- April 3 and 11;
- May 11, 17 and 24;
- 22nd of June;
- July 22;
- 20 November;
- 21 December.
Prior to the introduction of the Gregorian (i.e. modern) calendar, Cyril's name day in the church calendar was noted:
- January 18 and 26;
- February 4 and 14;
- March 9, 18, 21 and 29;
- April 28;
- May 4 and 11;
- the 9th of June;
- July 9;
- November 7th;
- December 8th.
If you compare all of the above dates, you can see that now Cyril’s birthday on the Orthodox calendar comes 13 days later than it was almost 100 years ago.

On February 17, the memory of Rev. Cyril Novozyersky, who built two churches: in the name of the Most Holy Theotokos and in the name of the Resurrection of Christ, is honored.
The birthday of Cyril, celebrated on February 27, is the day of remembrance of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril, the Slovenian teacher, who, together with his brother Methodius, invented our alphabet.
Spring christmas time
March 22 is the day on which we pay tribute to one of the forty martyr soldiers Cyril of Sebaste, who suffered a brutal death in the name of Christ. He, along with 39 soldiers, was stripped naked and driven into ice-bound lake by the pagan Romans. Nearby they heated a bathhouse in which you can warm yourself only by denying Christ. After a while, the Romans saw that the soldiers did not freeze, and in anger they killed their legs and burned them alive.
March 31 - the name day of Cyril of Jerusalem, the saint and the archbishop, who devoted his life to the struggle against the Arian and Macedonian heresies.
April 3 is a memorial day for the disciple of the Apostle Peter, St. Cyril of Catan, bishop of Sicilian Catania.
April 11 - the name day of the martyr Cyril the deacon.
On May 11, St. Cyril of Turovsky , a wonderful preacher and outstanding writer who performed many deeds for the glory of the church, is revered.
May 17 - the birthday of Cyril Alfanov, who, together with his brothers, founded the Sokolnitsky monastery in Novgorod.

June 22 is the day of remembrance of St. Cyril of Belozersky, one of the most significant Old Russian saints. Cyril Belozersky is not only the creator of one of the most authoritarian charters, but also the founder of the Belozersky monastery.
July 22 - the name day of the holy martyr Cyril, a former bishop in Hortinia for 50 years. He was beheaded at a very advanced age for the Christian faith.
