In the southeastern part of the capital, there is one of your favorite vacation spots - Kuskovo (park). Address of the forest park and museum: Moscow, st. Youth, 2. It is located inside the metropolis, but visitors forget about it, getting into a beautiful corner of nature.
There is a forest park zone on the Meshchera lowland and has an area of more than 300 hectares. On its territory are several beautiful ponds. The largest and most famous is the Great Palace Pond. It is located opposite the palace and the estate and has an area of 14 hectares.
How to get there?
One of the most popular and favorite vacation spots for residents of the capital, as well as its guests, is Kuskovo (park). Almost every Muscovite knows how to get to him. You can get to the Kuskovo forest park by your own car, taxi or public transport. By car it is convenient to use a map or navigator. For a walk on your own, there are several options for travel:
- From the Vykhino metro, take bus number 620 or minibus No. 9M to the Kuzkovo Museum stop, Moldagulova Street or Veshnyakovskaya Street.
- From the metro station "Ryazansky Prospekt" transfer to bus number 133 or 208, drive to a stop called "Museum Kuskovo", "Moldagulova Street" or "Veshnyakovskaya Street".
- From the Novogireevo metro, take bus number 615, 247 or trolleybus number 64 to the Ulitsa Yunosti stop.
- In the Kazan railway direction of the station "Perovo", "Veshnyaki" or "Plyushchevo".
- In the Gorky railway direction of the station "Kuskovo", "Novogireevo" or "Chukhlinka".

Kuskovsky park is conditionally divided into two zones: museum and forest park. Residents call both parts the same, but at the same time specify Kuskovo - a park or a museum. The park zone consists of a wild forest park part and a count regular park, on the territory of which there is a beautiful Museum-estate. This estate once belonged to the famous generation of counts Sheremetyevs. The forest park is open for walks at any time, the regular park can be visited from 10.00 to 20.00, and the estate-museum has paid hours from 10.00 to 18.00. Ticket offices are open from 10.00 to 17.00.

Reviews for a walk in the park are usually positive. On its territory there are many playgrounds for children, shops, there are excellent places for
cycling, rollerblading or ice skating. The forest park area is clean and well-groomed, it has special picnic arbors. The variety of plantings is not very diverse, but visitors call Kuskovo (park) clean, comfortable and quiet. Only sometimes, the sounds of wildlife are interrupted by a barely audible noise of the railway or music coming in the evenings from the museum.
Flora and fauna
On the north-eastern side of the Big Palace Pond, one of the oldest Moscow parks has survived - the count's regular one under the name Kuskovo. The park covers an area of more than 30 hectares. In the XVIII century it was considered one of the largest in Russia. On the southwestern side of the Grand Palace Pond there is a chic forest, which has clearings, walkways and benches.
Flora of the Kuskovo Forest Park includes mainly birch forests, lime trees and old oak trees, as well as spruce and larch trees. Also here you can see sedges, ferns, buttercups, violets. The fauna of the forest park is represented by squirrels and birds (about 45 species). Visitors bring treats for ducks at the pond and squirrels who take food directly from their hands.
Bicycles for rent
One of the largest recreation areas in Moscow with many asphalt and dirt paths is considered to be Kuskovo Park. Bicycle rental organized in the warm season allows you to actively relax in the fresh air. The terrain is flat, without slides, but there are many paths and trails for every taste. The area for skiing is large (forest and 10 km of smooth asphalt), so cyclists have room to accelerate and find an interesting route for themselves.
Previously, cycling enthusiasts were forced to come here on their vehicles. But now, the capital’s administration in the forest park has organized a bike rental point, which is located near the building of the park zone directorate. The most common rental bikes are called
Stels Navigator. The cost of bike rental is 150 rubles per hour (for the first two hours), and starting from the third one, already at 100 rubles per hour. For family activities with children, you can rent bicycles with a child seat in the trunk. Their use costs 200 rubles / h.
Attractions: ice rink, rollers and playgrounds
Kuskovo (park) is great for family walks. On its territory there are playgrounds and sports grounds. On smooth paved paths, you can skate. Unfortunately, there is no rental of roller skates in it yet, but many come with their own. Even on weekdays, you can see many skaters here. Children will be interested in a ride on ponies and horses that await visitors in warm weather.
In winter, the park area is also crowded. In the winter months, a skating rink is poured on the site near the pond, so many people come to ride in the air near beautiful snowy landscapes. There is a special point where you can rent skates and tubing. For the comfort of customers, a warm dressing room and wardrobe have been built nearby. The cost of visiting the skating rink for adults and children over 7 years old is 100 rubles on weekdays, and 150 rubles on weekends.
Picnics and kebabs
After a long winter, the residents of the capital traditionally love to relax in nature and eat barbecue in the fresh air. By law, it is prohibited to make a fire in forests and parks. The code of the capital on administrative offenses for the use of barbecue facilities and making fires in the wrong places in the area of Moscow forest parks provides for penalties in the amount of 5 thousand rubles. This should only be done in areas reserved for picnics. One of such specially equipped recreation places of the capital, which has covered wooden arbors, benches with tables, barbecue facilities, urns, is Kuskovo (park). Barbecue can be prepared here for free.
Seventeen special sites are equipped in the Kuskovo forest park: ten free and seven paid specialized “grill houses”. Free picnic arbors are located on the western part of the shore of the Big Palace Pond, in the area of Dawn Alley and in the north-western zone of the forest park. They have tables, benches, barbecues. The only drawback is the lack of awnings. A more comfortable family picnic can be arranged in a paid “grill house”. You can book it on the website of the park. But it’s better to take free picnic arbors early in the morning, as there are many who want to, especially on holidays and weekends.
