The consequences of an underground thunderstorm in Ukraine were felt on the lands of Rostov. An earthquake in Taganrog happened in the morning (at about 11 o’clock): dishes, furniture and household appliances were shaking in the houses of the Taganrog residents.

The earthquake in Taganrog on 08/08/2016 interested many experts. Employees of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Rostov District said that, according to the Central Branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Obninsk), a seismic thunderstorm with a magnitude of 4.8 points was recorded in the Ukrainian territory at 11.15 a.m. It was she who was felt by residents of the west and southwest of the Rostov region.

According to other information (unconfirmed officially), a seismic thunderstorm with a power of 4.6 points occurred in the Crimea. Earth also staggered in Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk. Emergency services in the region told Interfax about the tremor up to one point, which felt the population of the south-west of the Rostov region.
“An underground storm occurred on Sunday at 11 hours 16 minutes across Moscow. Its epicenter was located in the area of Mariupol at a distance of 10 km inland. Tremors were felt in Azov, Taganrog and in the west of the Neklinovsky district, ”an employee of the agency said.

The Seismological Mediterranean European Center (EMSC) reported an earthquake of 4.7 points, which were recorded in the south of the Donetsk District on Sunday at about 11.15 a.m. The epicenter of a seismic thunderstorm was discovered 21 km north of the village of Stary Krym (Kalmius district of Mariupol) and 78 km south of Donetsk at a depth of 10 km.
And authorized representatives of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine told reporters that the magnitude of the underground storm reached 4.9 points. They said the last earthquake in the region happened 30 years ago.
On the Internet, users from Mariupol wrote that in each district of the metropolis, two shocks were clearly felt. There is no information about the destroyed houses, but it is known that the walls trembled in the apartments, plaster fell, furniture swayed.

At first, no one knew the cause of the earthquake in Taganrog. The press center of the ATO headquarters reported that the underground storm was especially noticeable in the Left-Bank and Central districts of Mariupol, powerful shocks also fell on the coastal part.
“At that time no shelling was recorded in this direction,” the ATO headquarters noted.
Users from Donetsk, Maryinka, Dnipro, Melitopol, Volnovakha, Zaporozhye, Kropyvnytsky, Berdyansk and Krivoy Rog also spoke about powerful tremors. Identical messages came from neighboring Russian cities - Taganrog and Rostov-on-Don.
In the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies in the Rostov District they said: "The shocks in Rostov are the resonance of the earthquake that occurred on August 7 at about 11.15 a.m. in Mariupol."
Eyewitnesses said that this phenomenon was like a blast wave, but Ivan Chmara (spokesman for the tactical-operational squad of sector "M") said that he did not have at the moment information about possible fights in the quadrant.
Some residents of Taganrog reported animals that did not show normal anxiety before the earthquake. In general, some Taganrozhites felt tremors, while others did not.
