And from what?

Kigurumi, like other warm pajamas and sweatshirts, are made of fleece - soft, breathable, hypoallergenic, light and the most comfortable fabric in the world. It is so pleasant to the touch that it is not surprising that people do not want to part with their costume even on the street.

Fleece material is quite economical, its price is about 400-600 rubles per linear meter. But we must remember that we need a lot of fabric.

In addition to the fabric needed: scissors, threads, buttons, Velcro or zipper, pins, elastic. It is also highly desirable to have a sewing machine.

And what size?

Decide on your totem animal and color? Now let's see the sizes of the kigurumi pattern.

Kigurumi size chart

In principle, the figure is quite simple and intuitive, but still explain:

  • height is the height;
  • chest width - chest girth, if so appropriate to express itself in this case;
  • torso width - hips;
  • sleeve length - the length of the sleeve.

As you know, all these measures are very arbitrary, since kigurumi still involves a very, very loose cut. The main thing is not to miss the length of the sleeves and legs, the rest is not so important.

Pattern

The kigurumi pattern is universal for almost all costumes. The basis is one and it is not at all complicated. Further details are added - ears, tails, horns, teeth, eyes, pussies, palms, wings, tentacles - everything you want.

Steps

  • Since the details of the kigurumi pattern are very large in size, it is better to draw them either on old wallpaper or on newspapers bound with scotch tape. We transfer the pattern to paper, scaling in accordance with your size, cut it out.
  • We lay out the patterns on the fabric, fasten with pins. There is one important point: it is necessary to monitor the direction of the pile of material, it must go from top to bottom.
  • Cut out the details of the suit from the fabric. It is worth considering that the fleece has one unpleasant feature - the threads can crumble strongly. This must be borne in mind.
  • If some decorative elements such as stripes, spots or a contrasting hem are planned on the body, then first of all we sew them.
  • If the main part of the overalls will be monophonic, then we fold the fabric parts of the pattern with the kigurumi facing inward, fasten with pins and sew on a sewing machine. It should be something like the one shown in the photo below.
kigurumi in the process of tailoring
  • Sew a zipper, Velcro or buttons into the front section of the suit.
  • Sew on the sleeves. We measure the right amount of elastic and sew into the cuffs on the arms and legs.
  • Sew the inside of the hood.
  • Separately, we sew the ears and do not forget to attach, trimming the upper part of the hood. If the ears are not planned in the place where the side seam passes, then they can be sewn separately later.
  • Finally, the main work has been done. It's time for creativity. On the outer part of the hood we place and fasten the elements of the muzzle with pins.

  • Sew the hood to the base of the kigurumi.

In time, sewing one costume from a sketch to the final result takes an average of one day. Of course, it all depends on the degree of detail and complexity of the decorative elements, but it’s not a pity to spend a weekend on such a cool thing. An excellent mood is guaranteed.
