Puppet Theater "Jester" is one of the wonderful places in Voronezh where both a child and an adult can enjoy.
Historical reference
This place began its work in October 1925, when an initial performance took place near a local university. First, the Voronezh State Puppet Theater "Jester" was a collection of lovers, true admirers of art. However, in November 1930, this place became one of the parts of the department of public education of the region, it was attached to the Young Theater.
Young activists formed a troupe at the university organization, they developed a repertoire of performances. At the same time, N. Bezzubtsev, the head of this place, was arrested on an "academic case." Since 1934, the leader was B. Nikolsky.
The performances took place within the walls of a drama institution. The team of actors was 5 women and 2 men. Here it was possible to introduce children to the plots of such wonderful world famous works as “Little Red Riding Hood” or “Puss in Boots”.
Independence
Voronezh Puppet Theater "Jester" celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 1975. Then the idea came up to provide the organization with its own building, where it could exist autonomously. Although in reality the Puppet Theater "Jester" moved to its own building only in 1984.
The architects were N. Topoev, as well as A. Frolov. For the implementation of this project they were awarded a special national prize. V. Anishchev was one of the most significant contributors, although for the most part the whole city was actively working to ensure that the Puppet Theater "Shut" (Voronezh) was fully operational.
Heyday
At the end of the last century, V. A. Volkhovsky took over the leadership. The “Trial of Joan of Arc” by Bresson and the “Mischievous Boy" by P. Vezhinov were played here. The performances were met with enthusiasm, it was a fresh trend in the life of art. Here one could also look at “Dead Souls” or “The Overcoat”, productions of “Be a Man” and “Career of Arturo Wu”.
Also, the Puppet Theater "Jester" became widely known in the framework of numerous serious festivals of international level. It was possible to show the skills of the local troupe abroad, in particular in Bulgaria, where the prize called "Golden Dolphin" was won. In 2009, the Jester Puppet Theater received the name of one of its leaders, Volkhovsky.

Touching monument
Many people justifiably believe that the best way to spend free time is to visit the Puppet Theater "Jester", whose address is: 50, Revolution Avenue, Voronezh.
Another quite remarkable feature of this place is the monument, which is dedicated to a dog nicknamed White Bim Black Ear. It was installed in 1998 on the square near the building. The authors of the statue were E. Pak and I. Dikunov.
The hero of the book is embodied in full size, the pedestal is not provided. You may notice that the dog has a sad and devoted look. This sculpture touched a lot of hearts. Stainless steel became the material for the execution of the monument. An ear and paw were made of bronze.
The remarkable image of G. Troepolsky’s authorship has become a peculiar symbol of the theater institution adjacent to it. During the creation of the sculpture, the authors took advice from the writer, consulted with him so that the monument came out as close as possible to the initial plan and embodied its best features. However, the creator passed away a little earlier than the moment the statue was discovered.
