The structure of the FSB of Russia

Any actions of the security forces in civil society are subject to mandatory regulation, namely, fixing at the legal level all the functions, rights and obligations of this authority. Obviously, failure to comply with this requirement can lead to very detrimental effects associated with the possible violation of freedoms and rights, as well as the abuse of authority by individuals.

The FSB in Russia has a certain legal status, which gives this structure all the rights that will enable it to carry out its tasks without violating the law. At the federal level, the purpose, rights, obligations, structure of the FSB is fixed primarily in the Constitution, federal laws and other acts operating at the federal level. In addition, the activities of this intelligence agency are regulated internationally by certain agreements.

The status and structure of the FSB are defined in the corresponding decree of the President, from which it follows that the special service under consideration represents a single system of bodies that together solve the tasks to ensure Russia's security. The FSB bodies are represented both at the federal level and at the level of the state’s regions, as well as in the Armed forces and other formations.

The structure of the FSB of Russia is created in such a way that the activities of this special service are managed by the President. At the same time, management is carried out at the federal level through the head of the executive body, which is appointed to this position and dismissed from it by presidential decree.

Management of the FSB is directly carried out by the Director, whose powers are regulated in the Regulation on the FSB (paragraph No. 11). In terms of his official status, he is equated with the Minister of Russia at the federal level. The post corresponds to the rank of "army general."

The structure of the FSB implies the presence of specialized units:

- at the federal level - the executive authority in the field of security;

- Departments and management of this body for individual subjects of Russia;

- special departments and management of the executive authority in the field of security in the Armed Forces and their governing bodies, as well as in individual military units.

These bodies form the basis of the FSB. The structure, in addition to the listed units, includes:

- border authorities;

- aviation units;

- other security agencies.

We must not forget about special-purpose enterprises, military medical, expert, educational, scientific and military-building institutions. The structure of the FSB includes a large number of categories of the objects listed above.

As for the territorial bodies, the same trend remains here as at the federal level. All territorial bodies that are directly subordinate to a certain regional executive authority and are connected with the issues of ensuring the security of Russia are included in the structure of the FSB.

In conclusion, we note that in the FSB structure it is forbidden to create units pursuing any political goals. In addition, the law prohibits the creation of any units that are not defined in the current regulatory framework. All activities of the FSB are aimed at ensuring and maintaining the security of the state, the individual and society. At the same time, this special service is part of the forces of the Russian Federation to comprehensively ensure the security of our country. The system of bodies that is part of the structure of the FSB is specified in article 2 of the federal law “On the bodies of the FSB”.
