You can take absolutely any yarn to create fluffy jewelry. Of course, if you want the color and texture of the material to match the one that was used to knit the hat, then this thread should be taken. However, in order to save money or to give a decorative effect, you can make a pompom from a completely different material.
Before you make a bubo on a hat, you need to consider its color and size. Headgear with one large bubo on the crown looks extremely attractive, but many products (especially for children) provide for the placement of several small elements.

Sequencing
The most common way to create pompons is to wind yarn on cardboard circles. It’s not difficult to do this.

Using a fork for winding yarn will help to make pompons of a very small size. This method is quick and easy, since the resulting turns will be almost the same size.
