Check valve 1 inch: description, varieties

In modern water supply systems, in order to avoid emergencies, special equipment is used. It is intended to protect pump installations. Such equipment are locking devices. It is worth considering them on the example of a 1-inch check valve. He found wide application in the installation of water pipes.

1 inch check valve

check valve

The valve is a special element of locking equipment that allows fluid to move through pipes in one direction. When a backflow occurs, the constipation is triggered and closes the water supply. The mechanism of such locking devices does not require an additional power source, the shutter is activated due to the forces of the reverse fluid flow.

A 1-inch check valve for the pump, as well as for turbine measuring devices, serves as protection against the occurrence of a phenomenon such as water hammer.

Device

1 inch check valve

The 1-inch check valve design for water does not have complex assemblies and consists of three main parts:

  • the main working part is a locking bolt made of plastic or metal, which is equipped with seals made of silicone or rubber;
  • return spring, made of high quality stainless steel;
  • directly the case of the device.

Check valve housings provide additional protection to avoid the harmful effects of chemicals often present in water. Protection is applied in a galvanic manner. Also, in some cases, a 1-inch check valve body is provided with a special valve to simplify installation, to drain air from the system, and also make a drainage hole to drain excess liquid.

Principle of operation

The principle of operation is quite simple. In the normal state, the return spring is in a deformed state under the influence of a direct fluid flow in the pipeline. Moreover, the spring is designed for a certain pressure inside the pipe. When the flow weakens or stops, as well as the reverse movement of the water stream, the spring returns the constipation to its initial position, thereby blocking the movement of the fluid flow.

Types of Check Valves

Check valves 1 inch, depending on the design of locking devices, are divided into four types.

  1. Locking devices, made in the form of a ball of plastic or metal, are called ball. In them, the fluid flow deflects the ball supported by the spring; in the reverse movement, the spring props the hole with the ball, blocking the flow of water.
  2. Locking devices in the form of dampers are used in metal pipelines during the intake of water from a well or wells. They are insensitive to pollution, they are called rotary.
  3. In disk locking devices, the fluid pressure is regulated by a spring disc. They are used in metal-plastic pipelines.
  4. The most convenient during repair is considered lifting constipation. In such valves, the valve, pressed by a spring, runs strictly in the vertical plane, and the valve itself is installed only in straight horizontal sections. When dismantling, remove the top cover and replace with a new one.

Also, valves according to the method of fastening to pipes are divided into several types:

  • wafers connect the flanges of adjacent pipes with bolts, while the valves themselves do not have fasteners;
  • flanged ones are equipped with special gaskets; they are used on large pipelines;
  • coupling, having internal and external threads, are used in water supply systems of small diameters;
  • in pipelines with chemically aggressive environments, valves for welding are used, such connections are non-separable.
