Monument to Ivan Shadr
Ivan Dmitrievich Shadr is an artist who worked in Soviet times. He also engaged in the creation of sculptures and promoted academic modernism. This outstanding person was born in the area. That is why a monument in his honor is included in the list of attractions of Shadrinsk. The monument is located on the territory of the city garden and is a sculpture consisting of a sculptor, as if knocked out of granite. On both sides of Shadr two of his magnificent works flaunt.
Monument to a goose from Shadrinsk
Not far from the museum of local lore flaunts another amazing attraction of Shadrinsk - an original sculptural composition called "Shadrinsk Goose". This character appeared in the city thanks to Evgeny Fedorov. At one time, the famous writer studied a huge number of archival documents preserved from the eighteenth century. It was there that he obtained information about the Shadrinsky Gus, which he sang in his work. After the work became widely known, the authorities decided to decorate the city of Shadrinsk with a landmark (photo below) personifying the characters sung in the book. So now, any citizen or guest of the city, passing a museum of local lore, can meet sculptures of a peasant woman holding a goose and a merchant. According to the work, a peasant woman is trying to sell a bird, and a hunky merchant is trying to buy it at the lowest price. So, thanks to Evgeny Fedorov, the city got its own symbol - the Shadrinsky goose.
Museum of Local Lore
The foundation date of the museum is considered to be 1918. The founding father of this attraction of Shadrinsk is a dedicated local historian Vladimir Biryukov. The exposition was based on historically interesting gizmos collected here by the forces of the Siberian people. The museum fund includes more than sixty thousand units of various values. Here you can please your eyes with collections from various fields, including from painting, technology, archeology, sculpture, weapons and others.
Each year, more than twenty thousand people get acquainted with the museum’s collections. As a rule, these are pre-organized groups. Absolutely everyone can visit this attraction of Shadrinsk. The museum is open daily, except Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The legendary museum exhibits of Shadrinsk include a rare samovar in the form of an opened flower, an oriental Buddha made of gilt bronze, a watch from the merchant of the second guild Leshchev, a sketch of the “Dying Gladiator” dated 1856. Cathedrals and churches
On the territory of Shadrinsk there are two churches and one cathedral. Each temple has more than a century of history. Transfiguration Cathedral was opened in 1777. For a long period of time he was in a defective condition. The end of the twentieth century became very important for the cathedral. During this period he was seriously transformed, and now he pleases the parishioners with his beauty and solemnity.
The Church of the Resurrection of Christ appeared in Shadrinsk at the end of the nineteenth century. The location of the church is an old cemetery on the outskirts of the city. Significant remoteness from the center made it possible to conduct services here even in Soviet times.
The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker appeared in the city in 1796. During the revolution, the church had to be completely abolished. This building was decided to adapt to the local college. After some time, in a sacred place, anti-religious people even opened a liquor store. Fortunately, in the nineties the Orthodox church was decided to revive. After a long and very thorough restoration, the church again opened the doors to the parishioners. Now services and other church events are held here. City garden
Among the main attractions of Shadrinsk, a special place is occupied by its city garden. Its arrangement began at the end of the nineteenth century. Shadrinsk merchants of that time carefully planted trees and shrubs in the garden. Also, it was with their hands that a beautiful local pond was created. During the existence of the Soviet Union, the empty land of the city park was diluted with various carousels. Now here you can not only relax in the fresh air, but also have fun with the whole family on the rides and see the attraction of Shadrinsk. Shadrinsky Drama Theater
The local theater has existed for the second century. During its existence, he gained a distinctive style. Currently, you can see a lot of interesting performances. Among them is the production of Thunderstorms based on the play by Ostrovsky, the gloomy comedy The Lonely West, the comedy Vaudeville and other fascinating productions. For a trip with children, the theater offers such productions as "Puss in Boots", "Grandmother's Memo", "Once Upon a Time Russula" and others. Nowadays, the director of the Shadrinsky Drama Theater is Pavel Solodukhin, a promising director. Two honored artists of Russia play in the troupe: Valery Mazur and Vladimir Baranov.
